Someone put a big "x" through my Bernie 2016 bumper sticker with a sharpie last night. Wonder if it was a MAGA Chud or some pissy Hillary supporter.

Cuellar

Could they have been trying to vote for him?

Mister Six

Did someone have an article critiquing Pete Buttigieg? I thought someone had put something on here but I can't find it. Might have been sheared off into another thread in a split?

It wasn't me who posted it but here you go:

Wayhey, thanks!

Corey Booker has pulled in $5 million for his campaign, putting him well under the top Dem competitors.

Does anybody else feel that the 'tablishment media is very much in sync with focusing on the current Bernie challenger, or am I being paranoid? It very much feels like they're trying to see which candidate will stick, and right now it's looking like Buttitgigigiedge.

He's certainly the one with the best marketing. I wouldn't blame anybody who isn't paying close attention to things for thinking that he's on the level.

Much less cackhanded than Beto's Poochie skateboarding stuff. Radical! To the extreme!

greenman

Feels like there getting close to offering Bernard Hopkins on a youth hosteling ticket

Paul Calf

Think this'll affect the US elections at all? America is at the "performing experiments on kids" stage of nazism:

QuoteThe U.S. is tracking migrant girls' periods to stop them from getting abortions. In at least one case there was an attempt to use a migrant girl as a way to test an "abortion reversal" method

I don't even want to know what 'abortion reversal' is.

Blumf

Soooo.... Anchor Babies are a good thing now?

Make up your mind, Uncle Sam!

Also, "abortion reversal", what!?

I was just thinking that. Every few weeks the BBC do one of their saccharine puff pieces, straining the liberal rag dry in an attempt to position the organisation inside the brackets of progressive history.

It's perfect. A good candidate generates marketing organically.

CNN was back to its centrist shit-smearing best yesterday with a headline along the lines of 'Sanders admits he's a millionaire after being forced to release tax returns'

Of course, only this bit was true 'Sanders ... release(s) tax returns' but the panel discussion was astounding: 'Aren't socialist supposed to hate money?' being about the standard of the debate. Cunts.

Twed

Months ago it was clear that the whole point of tax return pressure was so they could run articles like this, too. Just this inevitable dumbshit smear that has to be balanced with the smears about why the returns aren't out there yet, aimed at the same people who think that Sanders even is a socialist and that's the same thing as NATIONAL SOCIALISM, and socialists can't have money and oh Jesus Christ just a constant stream of idiocy with the end goal of making sure that the pharmaceutical industry doesn't get fucked.

A Twitter thread showing people in 2010 essentially protesting about how irritating it is that they have to hear about politics because they are already content, before it was uncool to do that: https://twitter.com/55Counties/status/1115842453461000192

Fascinating really. Like being bludgeoned over the head by hindsight.

Fambo Number Mive

Wasn't the rally meant to be a parody? Most of the signs seem to be a misguided attempt to try to make America less divided, I don't think they are saying they are content.

Paul Calf

Nuance, mate.

Careful with that.

And that's massively tone-deaf. It doesn't matter whether they are actually fully content or not, telling people to just chill out and stop being angry even (especially?) as a joke is devil's rectum stuff. That wet satirical stuff absolutely is part of the problem.

Paul, just come to terms with being irrelevant and stop boring the rest of us. Not everybody's brain turned to mush when they hit their 30s, it's just that being habitually witless sped the process up a bit for you.

Paul Calf

Oh, boil your head you petulant little turd. If only daddy had paid you a bit more attention, you might not be such an insufferable dickhead.

Those are insults from a book of boring insults that somebody would look at in 1987 and think "these are insults from a book of boring insults that somebody in 1975 would look at and think are shit".

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Dog Botherer

Another X mark through the Bernie bumper sticker, after I cleaned the last one off. Not sure if i should be irritated at the property damage or amused at the rage that a sticker on a stranger's car is causing some brain rotted moron out there.

This NPR piece is absolutely designed to set the skittles up for a knockdown when Sanders releases his report: https://www.npr.org/2019/04/12/712197338/democratic-candidates-are-releasing-tax-returns-answering-big-questions-for-vote

"Sanders can't be a millionaire and really believe in the things he's fighting for"
"Sanders doesn't give a lot to charity, does he?" (he has gone on record previously pointing out that most charities are money-making enterprises, and that fixing the system is better than patching it. The public will only hear the "Sanders is uncharitable!" story)

Mark my words, neolibs are going to push the ridiculous notion that Sanders is corrupted by money HARD. Wet-brained powered loons love "NO YOU!" as a comeback, and they've got the press behind them to enable their bullying.

Mister Six

Forbes piece about "how Bernie made his $2.5 million fortune" popped up on my Facebook feed, but pleasingly all the top comments are pro-Bernie and calling out this nonsense.

Here's the number-one comment:

QuoteThis is hilarious. Bernie has accumulated savings over a lifetime of working, collecting a paycheck and investing some of his salary in a couple of modest real estate investments. Plus, he wrote a book. Good for him. He wasn't speculating in oil futures or engaging in insider trading as did so many of his colleagues (it was actually legal for them to do so until a few years ago). The sum he has accumulated is not insignificant but it can hardly be called a fortune. He's one of the poorest members of the Senate. I'm surprised Forbes can publish this kind of thing with a straight face...

Others point out that the fact he has a (tiny by such standards) fortune but still wants to raise taxes only makes him more admirable.

Twed

Sanders directly points out that there is a Clintonite think tank devoted to smearing progressives: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/14/us/politics/bernie-sanders-2020-candidates.html

I'll say it a thousand times: we were made to look towards Russia to hide the fact that native skulduggery is afoot.

This stuff makes me feel so sick.
