2018 was an amazing year for metal/punk/sludge/thrash/hardcore/blackend-crust-stoner-doom but, and I know it's only February, there's not much out that's really made me happy this year.

I've heard a couple of good singles that, hopefully, mean there's some good LPs on the way:
Devil Master - Desperate Shadow (https://open.spotify.com/track/7JilGZM0ERRSN93Ap23uMN?si=4yzlJaPFSuuyjuYYYTNRoA) I didn't like their first record because the production sounded like early Venom but without the charm (or the excuse) but this is great. Lovely chorus-effect on those guitars.
Herod - Fork Tongue (https://open.spotify.com/album/0PxEROIeQFHDk1qo8poqIG?si=lLBgtIFbR3OM0s10cqEh_A) Heavy. Non-standard.
1349 - Dødskamp (https://open.spotify.com/album/5T5TAzmcADN1CfRpCG1aBJ?si=EM8XT2EpTY-diKzUsKSYtw) - pretty good, reminded me I like 1349.

What have you heard that's good? What are you looking forward to? And how do you find out about new records? (Spotify Release Radar? The Quietus metal column? Invisible Oranges?)

I've only heard two very good records from this year and one of them is
Mo'ynoq - Dreaming In A Dead Language
which fuses black metal hysterics and atmospheres with some grunting southern grooves
and occasionally moments of flummoxing complexity

BeardFaceMan

John Garcia And The Band Of Gold. Chris Goss producing, sort of, it sounds amazing.

Loved Manifestations. All Discharge-y and GISM-y and recorded down a well. New stuff is sounding excellent.

Deep Blood by City Hunter has been hyped a lot recently so gave it a spin. Exactly my cup of tea and makes the walk to walk much quicker. Reminded me of that Hoax band from a few years ago.

Been revisiting Necrophagia recently, anyone know of any new bands keeping that kind of Death Metal, er, alive?

Last year was ace but I've yet to really hear any new stuff this year, I tend to pick up on good albums later after they've been listened to and lauded, lazyness on my part I'm afraid.

I really hope that Carcass finally release a new album this year.

New Sunn O))) record out in April, then another one later in the year.

New Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard either out now or soon.

Aye fuck that then.

Abbath has a new album out this year I believe. That should be terrific. Reliably heavy bastards Rammstein are due new stuff in a few months as well.

There's a new Earth record out soon too, I think.

Yob have been added to the Supersonic bill. So that's Neurosis, Yob and Godflesh.

I'm away for the London gig with this lineup and I'm well fucked off. All 3 are off the scale great live, Yob at the Highbury Garage last year was my gigging highlight.

Thanks for that Deep Blood recommendation!
I'm not sure exactly what kind of death metal Necrophagia are (I hear a lot of Slayer in there to be honest) - but Bloodbath are both death metal and very good as are The Crown

For more 2019 stuff I'm giving Punir by Fange a spin right now  pretty good.
The new Integrity single All Death Is Mine is pretty good too - lovely 80s hard-rock opening riff before it descends into raw hardcore.

Nearly all my 'eavy stuff comes via my Holy Roar subscription these days, so with that in mind, here's Ithaca - The Language Of Injury - a solid half-hour of metallic hardcore with some nasty squealy riffs.

the ouch cube

First Today Is The Day in five years, "No Good To Anyone" out in the summer sometime

Most of the recommendations in this thread are pretty speedy (as in they don't sound like Bell Witch/Eye Hate God/Whatever today's hip doom band is)

Conversely I am only interested in Bell Witch/Eye Hate God/Whatever today's hip doom band is so keep them coming too please.

Is there a new one?
not really, Existential Void Guardian (2018) isn't exactly new : https://open.spotify.com/album/49kLwTgAsyzYkMnnoohpzb?si=AdO-yVh0S7KHlUPEOuFiOg
But it's all sort of new to me as I'm late to the party.
