With Coil I agree with Who'll Fall? as a good choice. The version of A Cold Cell with the video someone had made on youtube is a pretty harrowing watch and listen

In terms of Dreams, my favourite is Sea. Hypnotically terrifying.

Going to put this all together and go out to the post-WW2 fir tree plantation nearby, stand in the aisles of rigidly planted pine trees marching away in all directions, just as it goes dark and the dry needles start to rustle.

Brundle-Fly

Never listen to this alone in 1986 in a tower block squat on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton at 3AM on a microdot.

I made a handy playlist of all the suggestions so far...

These are beautiful. Some of my favourite pieces of music.

Here's one (No. 3 , I think) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGddm-hw-Xc --- gorgeous, amniotic, decay.

Reminded me of Cul De Sac's I Remember Nothing More

The theremin outro to Entangled by Genesis shits me up. Especially the change at 4.59.

My Dad is a huge fan of The Specials. Jerry Dammers really had a knack for coming up with unsettling melodies, so my childhood spins to the seaside were always interesting with the car stereo blasting.

International Jet Set really shit me up when I was kid and still makes me uneasy to this day.

The whole song is really unsettling. The Mundane muzak turned on it's head into some kind of off key exotica from hell. Then you have the imagery of being on a plane plummeting towards the ground and your certain death on top of that.

Wasn't it used on another track to more devastating effect? Wind & Wuthering?

Ornlu

I dunno, only heard a few songs from the album. I'll check it out.

Looking forward to playing these suggestions in my open plan office tomorrow.

Here are mine.

Blood Chant by Gorky's.  Lot's of really disturbing segments on Bwyd Time, but only one whole song.

I've always found this FSOL tune a bit unsettling.

Are soundtracks cheating?  Loads of the music from Alien franchise, especially the ones played live.

Then of course you have the whole Under the Skin soundtrack.

This entire Alec Empire Record. Wife goes totally apeshite if I put this on.  Got to have a bonus point for the song Jailhouse Cock Rocks the Most:

And who could forget Twin Infinitives.  Totally love this record.

It's a good FSOL track, it does stand out.

The vocal sample and some bits remind me of Biosphere's The Fairy Tale

and Tangerine Dream's 3am at. the Border of the Marsh from Okefenokee (in itself a prototype haunter)

As I've mentioned before, my Dad played this on vinyl to me in the attic when I was about 3.

Maybe he does when I'm not paying attention, but his phone's 'new message' sound is this and he lets the whole thing play out in full every time.

Excellent :) I should point out that I wasn't joking or exaggerating at all though, he's literally that weird.

Look, it's not weird to love Gentle Giant, Gryphon maybe, but not THE GREATEST UNSUNG BAND IN HISTORY.

Two above that are wonderful but don't fit the bill for me

Disintegration Loops are sad but beautiful and not really creepy to me

Alec Empire Elvis album is a visceral thrill

I still maintain that OMD's Architecture and Morality is the most  consistently creepy album I've heard.

The first time I heard Joan Of Arc I genuinely thought something had gone wrong with the radio. Now I genuinely think it's one of the greatest singles of all time. I fucking hated that Maid Of Orleans follow-up though. That's the thing about OMD, their stuff was either fantastic or utter shite. And I still think Dazzle Ships is their best album.

Anyway, apart from A Different Corner, this is the only thing I've ever heard on the radio that has actually scared the shit out of me. That Simon Bates was a one, eh?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiWO-GewESQ

(It was Peel, in case you haven't guessed. This is what it's actually like inside my head. You can take a pair of pliers and make it very unpleasant for anybody. Tha knows.)

Norton Canes

Epilogue from Skinny Puppy's Cleanse Fold And Manipulate. Always been a bit freaked out by Shroud Of Turin type stuff.
