Video here. Shame he never released it on any of his albums, it sticks in my head for days whenever I revisit it.

No one's mentioned Iggy Pop, shirtless and wired on the genteel delicate housewive's favourite morning show, The Dinah Shore Show.

There's also that bizarre bit of miming (to Sixteen) he does to a largely disinterested studio audience in Germany captured from somebody's old VHS home re-re-re-recording (so it jumps a few times where the signal couldn't be captured).

There is also one of Kylie performing to what looks like an audience of middle aged bankers which is quite good, but don't know where to find it or, indeed, how to put it up.

Uncannily, it just came up on Twitter in the last few days.
Hang on

*twitter rummaging sounds*

Wasn't Iggy Pop quite also on Number 73, dry humping a teddy bear? I'm sure I've seen that on one of Channel Five's endless array of clip shows.

Turns out it's BBC 4 but it's the first vid here. I'm surprised it didn't cause more of a stir at the time. Would have been ace if it was on Saturday Superstore. Mike Read would have smashed the cameras.

The Cramps Live at Napa State Mental Hospital.

A lot cooler and unexploitative than I'd been led to believe when it seemed more like a playground rumour than an actual event.

It doesn't feel exploitative at all, it's fun and inclusive. Everyone enjoyed themselves, there were no victims.

I love this clip of modern day "Amish farmer" Harpo doing Movie Star while walking around a bunch of unimpressed people at an outdoor pool. There's other similar clips from this show, including Murray Head doing the same thing to One Night In Bangkok.

I swear down that I remember seeing Suicidal Tendencies perform Possessed To Skate on the Alton Towers-set kids game show Hold Tight, but I can't find it on YouTube, so here's The Damned instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eB6DMtj2Os

Yeah, I suppose so. Still, classic grindcore mayhem on primetime.

thanks for that, or more accurately for leading me to discover that there was a promo for "cat's eye", one of my favourite VDGG songs, that I had no idea existed.

Always seemed a bit try-hard to me.

I remember a journalist who was present at that year's Brit Awards (they were doing a general KLF article for either the NME or Melody Maker) saying that it was a lot more impressive in person, and when they saw the TV broadcast afterwards it didn't match up to the actual performance at all. I think the sound mix has a lot to do with it - the drums and vocals are quite high, and the guitars are pretty low. Also the non-Drummond vocals don't sound right for some reason. (As a sort of illustration of this, I'm sure some film theorist once said that "cinema is two thirds sound", but I can't find that quote anywhere and now I'm wondering if I made it up.)

Sebastian Cobb

I still love the rumour that Pete Waterman has in his safe the demos of the KLF's Black Room.

When it comes to Iggy, this truly bizarre performance on Australia's Countdown springs to mind. Brilliant.

The Word was a pretty likely show for The La's to play, surely? That dancing is indeed hilarious, though.

The kicks, the stiffs, the ol' microphone down the pants trick... absolute genius. Drugs or not, that's exactly what every singer should do when put on a Sunday evening live show.

That's why Iggy missed out on the 'Highway' presenting gig to Harry Seacombe.
