It's a Black Country phrase isn't it? I heard it growing up a fair amount.

I assumed it was from my neck of the woods but there was some article on Radio 4 a few years back about (I think) Derbyshire expressions and they gave this as an example. It prompted people from all over - Black Country, North West, East Midlands, etc - to claim it as one of theirs. So I dunno.

yeah hello it's Philly Boy Roy!

For me, a mix of influence from all the Philadephia TV and radio stations (and going to schoolin Wilmington, DE), and my family all being from Middle River, Maryland. I love my redneck Mid Atlantic accent, yea. (Key giveaway for a Delaware native: they go 'down the beach'.)

I enjoyed making up new fake slang. My word for baby is now "squirtling".
