New album out now, so a good time to have another thread about wibbly electronica and samples from 70s schools programmes.

Have you heard 'The Hexagon Hourglass' by The School Master?

If you like Ghostbox, it should be right up your street!

New album coming in June

"Ghost Watch" By Pipes.

'Haunted Vagina by Crackle Spook is pretty good too.

I apologise for being a complete TINKER!

I was happy with its authentic soundingness though. Chuffed.

But you weren't fooled by The Wobbles?

:(

It didn't get me as I am still scarred by the original advert all those years ago, sadly.

Ghost Box parodies is a bit of an untapped area. I've occasionally thought about starting a "Fictional Ghost Box bands" HS Art thread but I suspect it would be a bit niche, what do you reckon?

I was listening to the new albumen this morning. It was right nice. A wee bit like Boards of Canada without the creepiness. Lots of nice synth porn action and decent choons and that.

... Yup, can't imagine why I'm not a famous music journalist.

This is exactly why I hate them. They're ad-agency Boards of Canada.

It's not available online anywhere now, but Tauchsieder's Louder album from 2007 is in a similar vein. It was a collaboration between GYBO stalwarts Soundhog, Cnut and Frenchbloke (who used to have it up on his Soundcloud page, but has taken all the tracks off now) but was a bit ahead of that sort of thing becoming popular. Their 'Herd The Shadows' single is still on Youtube though.

Blodwyn, please tell me how you do the quick 'on a phone thing'

Not a bad name for an album that either

No. How do you upload photgrahs into this shithole is what I'm saying

Although they still release some decent stuff I think I'm a bit over the whole Ghost Box phenomenon these days. Bandcamp is absolutely stuffed with acts doing the Hauntology/soundtrack to an imaginary 70's horror movie/cassette recording of three blokes squeezing some floorboards in a forest thing these days.

You know music is fucked when new people are making old music
