WhoMe

Thanks for the heads up, bought a couple of tix towards the end of the work in progress run. Won't need two copies of the DVD so I look forward to flogging at least one back to Stu via amazon.

I thought he said he was going on a long break from stand-up after his last show?

BritishHobo

I've said this in the thread, but two dates for this have gone up for the Machynlleth festival in May, one Saturday, one Sunday. They're only sixty minute slots though, so wondering if one will be Snowflake and the other Tornado.

Only just become aware of him, so well chuffed he's touring it.

Brace yourself, though. When I saw him last there were hardly any jokes at all.

Ah. Will bear in mind, cheers.

No, of course he's not been on Live At the Apollo.

Small Man Big Horse

I saw this last night as a friend bought me a ticket as a birthday present and enjoyed it a lot, I had quite a few issues with Content Provider (and a couple with the fourth series of Comedy Vehicle) but thought this was a real return to form. Pleasingly he didn't do the "split the room" thing which bugs me enormously either (choosing just to attack everyone instead!), and the material was really strong from start to finish. If I was to be picky I'd say that Tornado was the slightly stronger show, though there's not that much between them, and they could easily be considered two halves of one show as they tackle similar subjects.

Twit 2

Just scrolled through the tour dates on his website and he's not playing Norwich! What gives? He did two dates on the last tour.

Hoping a recording of this is released for those of us outside the UK...

Saw this last night and thought it was wonderful fun. The hours flew by and he seemed Very Highly Energised (although ever so slightly worryingly fat). Likewise thought the lack of room split was a good thing, and really loved his, essentially, two hour critique of the entire audience.

Somehow amidst a particularly gloomy period of time in the world, it seemed to me that he'd made his mind up not to channel all that, and I found the show strangely upbeat and almost positive/sincere in a way that Lee isn't always so open about on stage.

According to his recent email:

QuoteI will film this show/these shows in the Summer of 2020 for offloading to whatever content platforms are still viable at that stage in late capitalism's technologically-driven cultural decline.

So you should be in luck!

I don't know if he opens with the same one every night but his first "I know what you're thinking, ..........has let himself go!" completely slayed me in its accuracy.

Really enjoyed both sets, Snowflake maybe just about edging it with the inspired bit of extended physical comedy taking a pot shot at one of CaB's bete noires.

Yeah, I think you've nailed it there.

He's doing five nights at the Royal Festival Hall in June and July and tickets are still available for them. That or you could go to Watford in January, it's a minor arse and takes a while but is easy to get to from Euston at least.

BritishHobo

Got my tickets for the date at Machynlleth in May. I saw one half of the early work-in-progress there last year (I believe Tornado, but I can't remember - it had a long and lovely bit about going on stage after Dave Chappelle) so I'm really excited to see how it's changed and evolved.

I blindly booked these when you pointed out they were up as they get sold out almost as quickly as Rhod Gilbert / Mock The Week people.

Do you know which one it is? I thought there was just one Sunday show on - so is it pot luck (sorry for being dim about this).

BritishHobo

As far as I could tell it's both - two hours plus an interval. Been avoiding spoilers in this thread so I've no idea whether they're linked at all or totally independent of each other. Fuck I can't wait though.

If you chest the LST website in the mornings there's usually a couple of tickets for each remaining day left.

Sebastian Cobb

I thought there were tickets left for Glasgow but you have to click through several pages to find out it's sold out.

I'm that desperate I bought a ticket for him in Wolverhampton, ffs.

Yeah I went on Saturday after getting some return tickets on a whim. Good show would recommend

KennyMonster

I'm seeing this tomorrow.

Looking forward to it, I haven't seen any stand up since 19th December when someone dressed up as Santa at one of Robin Ince's variety shows came on and repeatedly said "no presents for you, you Brexit cunts"*

Anyway, also this......

*I'm not sure who it was but the tubby stature and drunken delivery reminded me of the Canadian stand-up Baconface.

Let us all know how it goes! :)

I'd love to see this. Glad it's getting a recording. Although, as others have mentioned, the title could be better.

Ferris

Really looking forward to seeing this, alas that it will be a recording but still.

MigraineBoy

Saw this last night.  I was surprised (though, not disappointed) at how much of a 'greatest hits' the Snowflake set was.

MigraineBoy

After an extended bit last night where he made strange noises, he ended saying how "On Friday a poster on Mumsnet said that bit went on too long...which suggests there's a correct amount of time to do it for & I plan on spending the next 240 shows working out what that is."

In a moment of curiosity I just Googled his name and Mumsent .... Jesus.  He made a crack at Gervais & now there's 7 pages of slagging him off & surmising about what he and his wife think about Trans people.
