Fuck AEW already.

Ha ha. Yes. But interesting though. Jack Whitehall has the ability to point a lot of people in their direction mind. Give him onscreen role as new Lord Alfred Hayes gimmick.

That interview is pretty interesting though. Sounds like ITV have been in with this for a while. Be very fascinating how they get this to work. When the hell are they going to put on a weekly show. Wonder if they will broadcast it live over here at stupid o clock in the morning of whether we will get it on a delay in prime time.

I really hope they can back it up. This show has to be good.

I have to admit Timothy that the more you seem to be softening on AEW the more what you have written before about them being a bit full of their own shit is becoming more apparent. In that Tony Khan interview and the Jericho Double of Nothing podcast they are both banging on about being a rival to WWE and taking it to Vince McMahon and how wonderful they are (Jericho as podcast Jericho but talking about AEW Jericho). It's all a bit grating to my ear. There is no problem with them hyping their own product and it is an approach that has worked for promotions for ever but they had better produce otherwise they are going to look very daft indeed.

I had a look and think you can still buy the PPV on Fite in UK if anyone was dubious about the quality of ITV streaming. £15 price.

I really want AEW to succeed. It's always good to have more wrestling companies. If they succeed they might make WWE step up their game, fans will have more exciting shows to look forward too and wrestlers have more options to work shows and make a name for themselves. There are already positive changes. They can make a huge impact in the wrestling business if they succeed with what they're trying to do.

But that's the thing. They need too succeed first. They need to prove that they can keep creating good wrestling shows, that they can provide weekly television without falling into the old TNA or WWE traps and that they can work with the wrestlers that come to AEW without any stupid backstage politics.

At this moment, before their first AEW show, Pac declined to work a match, they keep on referring to themselves as WWE competition and a WWE alternative, Brandi's Tweeting and talking in interviews saying that you aren't a real wrestling fan if you won't like AEW and US fans have to pay 50 dollars (almost half a year of the WWE Network or NJPW) to watch a PPV with what, with PAC out and the Omega vs Jericho ending being obvious, now appears to be a mediocre card.

So you are absolutely right.

I still think they're absolutely full of their own shit and thanks to their own BS if Double or Nothing will be crap they're screwed before they even properly began. Let's hope for the best.

Also:

QuoteShawn Spears aka Tye Dillinger is all in for Double or Nothing and it looks like he will be entering the Casino Battle Royal tenth.

Sigh.

Ja'moke

No problem with Tye being in the Battle Royal. Fun little spot for him. He was always going to end up in AEW given his close friendship with Cody (former tag partners back in OVW?).

Timothy

Me neither.

Just don't get having ex-WWE's Perfect Ten entering at number ten. Wouldn't it make more sense to do something new?

If I buy this on Fite, do I get to "keep" it in my library to watch on demand or is it just paying for the live show?

Not sure about where you are but on the Fite App in Australia it says the replay remains available for a week after the show.

Based on Jericho's latest podcast, and Meltzer's latest newsletter, AEW's TV show looks set to be on ITV4 weekly. That's pretty big news, especially if the rumours are true about WWE moving to BT Sport... not everyone is going to pay another £20+ a month just to watch Raw and SD, I know I certainly won't be signing up for BT. And with AEW offering wrestling on a free channel, it could easily pick up those fans.

Is FOX not one of the basic channels in the UK? If so you would still have Smackdown.

Nope. Raw and Smackdown currently air on Sky Sports, which you have to pay for. But recent reports in The Telegraph suggest once the Sky Sports deal is up, WWE will be moving to BT Sport, which you have to pay extra for ON TOP of you Sky Sports package.

According to the Observer, Alisteir Black is not going to Arabia because his tattoos may be offensive to the local shitbags. Kevin Owens has also pulled out (hence Dolph's return) probably because of Sami Zayn who is once again not invited. Daniel Bryan is the only other one wh'os said he's not going.

Timothy

Owens doesn't go because his family doesn't want him to go. Which makes sense.

Owens is great.

Is anyone Canadian going to Saudi?

hummingofevil

It is the original Aramaic pronounciation.

Some quotes from Cody and Bucks at Starrcast:

QuoteNick says AEW didn't even have a ring until last week.

QuoteCody just shot on CORPORATE CULTURE. Talking about how George Barrios used to walk around like he drew the houses at WWE.

QuoteCody: "WWE's TV deal in the UK SUCKS compared to ours, AND WE HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE SHOW

QuoteCody: "I believe in nepotism, I believe in giving your friends jobs. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for nepotism."

QuoteNick says in WWE titles don't mean anything. "We're not going to have no 24/7 belt. *Crowd applauds* We're going to have titles that matter." Cody agrees and makes fun of the belt

QuoteCody: "Is Randy still working there?"

QuoteCody is asked how much All In's "Over the budget battle royal" really was over the budget. Cody says $7500, Bucks say it could be even more than that.

QuoteA fan asks if TV will be taped in one home base or tour. Matt says they're going to be touring all over the world.

Ouch.

Moribunderast

I'm really, really excited for Double Or Nothing now that it's just days away. It airs Sunday morning in my timezone but I'm gonna wait til Sunday evening - got a former wrestling fan coming over and we're gonna get CRUNK and watch the show. Taking Monday off work 'n all. Did anyone watch the Pac/Page match? Thought it was pretty bloody good. I really hope they sort out whatever issues they had (seems to be just that PAC can't/won't job while Dragon Gate champ) as PAC with his current character is so awesome he deserves to be seen on a big show. I don't care if he's happy just hanging out at Dragon Gate - he needs to do what I want him to do. The bastard.

Timothy

Was Cody drunk or something yesterday? Also took a shot at Bayley, which the crowd didn't approve of:

https://twitter.com/johnnynba/status/1131810628597948418?s=12

And talked about how bad he felt for Foley and the 24/7 title (what the fuck was he holding, I felt so bad, with the Bucks laughing):

https://twitter.com/JohnnyNBA/status/1131814751590334464

And here the footage of him saying WWE's UK TV deal sucks:

https://twitter.com/JohnnyNBA/status/1131807512578220032

The more they act all high and mighty and crap on WWE and it's wrestlers, the more they're hurting themselves when their own show turns out to be crap.

Mobius

Yeah I'd prefer they didn't acknowledge WWE to be honest.

But from a carney bullshit perspective, it's those sorts of comments that'll garner attention.

Just watched PAC/Hangman actually cus it came up on my YouTube recommended. Good match. Love little venues, imagine those fans excitement when Page came out?

Anyone watching BOSJ? Ospreay Bandido last night was a belter.

up_the_hampipe

It's not a good look, but he was probably just trying to entertain the marks at Starrcast. Also I don't really disagree with what he says there.

madhair60

What did he say about Bayley? I can't get the video atm

He called her a bitch and wished her dead.

Not really. He said Kylie Rae is sweet and full of emotion and "not some quirky, inflatable tube men, pretending to be nice..." The reaction he gets from one of the Jackson bros was pretty funny.

I too would prefer if they kept the WWE bashing and referencing to a minimum. It's kinda TNAish and everybody already knows WWE is the shits right now - you don't need to be classless and constantly remind them.

By all means bury Vince and Hunter and everyone else running that mess, but don't shit on the talent. They don't deserve that and most people who've had it with WWE understand that the talent aren't the problem. Nobody that boos Roman Reigns is booing Joe Anoaʻi.

Plus, it can backfire too. Like when WCW mocked WWF putting the belt on Mick Foley causing millions to switch over and never come back. That Bayley comment was dangerously close to that.

He might have beef with her personally. Saying she's "pretending to be nice" could be hinting that.

Then handle it personally. This is just childish and makes them look bad.
