Not a Giallo, but I'd add Riz Ortolani's beautiful theme to Cannibal Holocaust:

Italian exploitation films had some great music.

Yeah that's lovely. Think I first heard of that from Oscillations.

There's Kes of course.

Morricone's non western 60's stuff is a goldmine too.

My favourite piece by him is from Un Uomo Da Rispetarre, where he channels Charles Mingus (amongst other things):

Amazing.

David Dundas and Rick Wentworth - 'Withnail's Theme' (from Withnail and I).

Perfectly matches the film's emotional conclusion.

A pretty obvious one I don't believe has actually been mentioned - Philip Glass' score for Koyaanisqatsi (I've not seen the two follow up movies/heard their soundtracks tbh)... some of Glass' music was reused in Zack Snyder's Watchmen... this doesn't feature any of the beautiful choral work that appears elsewhere in the score, but it's incredible nonetheless:

'Cloudscape'.

I love this laid-back, jazzy piece from the Argento 'Zombi' cut of Dawn of the Dead:

Goblin - 'Oblio'.

Okay, it's TV and a bit of a guilty pleasure, but:

Jan Hammer - 'Crockett's Theme' (from Miami Vice - the original series!).

The OST for this is one of my favourite albums, not least for introducing me to John Fahey and Roscoe Holcomb.

Christ, yes. Those brief moments of dissonance at 1:09 and 1:41, ugh. I had always thought watching this scene that it was the perfect climax to Twin Peaks as a work - of course, the Return proved me wrong. Interesting to think if Lynch had any further notion of 'what year is this?' when he devised this scene.

While we're on Angelo, 'Diane and Camilla' from Mulholland Drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0BEV44P-oM

The 'love theme' from MD is deployed to devastating effect at various times throughout the film, but this piece is never actually used in the movie, making it even more haunting and beautiful IMO. It's like a musical shorthand for the two characters and their whole sorry tale. I wonder if it was initially meant for inclusion during my favourite scene, where Camilla literally leads Diane up the garden path.

Same. Most people see the cliffhanger in season 2 and assume it's not a complete work, but I never saw how Fire Walk with Me didn't provide enough conclusion. I think it always has to end with Cooper and Laura. I knew the Return wouldn't besmirch it all though, though. Inherently it feels sort of wrong, like the catharsis of FWWM's ending was snatched away, but that's all by design. It's all amazing.

I need to watch Mulholland Drive again. That really is a beautiful score, I hadn't heard that track before.

Dirty Boy

Moving Through Time is my favourite from FWWM. Such a beautiful and heartbreaking scene (The angel disappearing from the picture).

BlodwynPig

Kenji Kawai's work. I love his Chaos soundtrack and this track from Dark Water, which is about as emotionally impacting as the Twin Peaks one (given the story beneath it) - the sustained part around 2:20 rips me apart

Biosphere's Insomnia soundtrack is something I picked up out of a bargain bin in the late 90s...the cover looks like a shoddy budget movie, but is actually a pre-hype Scandi Noir thriller with Stellan Skarsgard

This is fantastic... thanks to some dedicated sleuthing, I've managed to find an Ennio Morricone track that I heard on an obscure Morricone compilation cassette a mate used to have... I have attempted to find it in the past, but a new burst of inspiration got me scouring IMDb/Discogs and YouTube... the piece in question is from 1969 Marlon Brando-starrer Burn! (original Italian title: 'Quiemada'):

Ennio Morricone - 'Verso il Futuro (Primo)' ('Into the Future (First)').

It's quite dramatic and slightly spooky... I love the pipe organ, wailing and off-kilter strings.

I like a lot of Philip Glass stuff, so it's no surprise I enjoyed the music for The Hours.

The Johnny Mandel covering Eric Satie theme from Being There (1979) is gorgeous and fits the final scene perfectly:

Good call on those couple of Fire Walk With Me Tracks too, although the whole film is an audio and visual masterpiece!

Was also used at the conclusion of that Fyre documentary. It's hard to kinda pinpoint the emotion I feel when listening to it, but I just think it's a beautiful piece of music.

Patrick Doyle's score for Branagh's Hamlet is great.

I came to post that exact video. Everything about that scene does funny things to me. The real music is Sheryl Lee's acting though. She is incredible.

Zdenek Liska's work for Marketa Lazarova, manages to feel very much of the setting whilst still having a modern beautiful strangeness to it...

In counterpoint to the already mentioned The Thin Red Line, I'll put up The Thin Blue Line (the Philip Glass-scored Errol Morris movie, not the Rowan Atkinson sitcom).

Not un-cheesy, but still glorious: The Lion in Winter

Draughtsman's Contract has been posted, but I really love the nervous breakdown that is Nyman's Zed and Two Noughts soundtrack (though I think the title track isn't the strongest).

The Sweet Hereafter, for the best movie you will never want to watch a second time.  Sarah Polley kills it with the songs (like this).

And for pure unfettered mid-century Americana, you can't beat Elmer Bernstein's To Kill a Mockingbird.
