Fun loop. 15 seconds is about the right length for his level of comedic vision.

And nice to hear the melody from the Swedish Rhapsody numbers station playing under there.

Great show this week. 12 healthy cigarette recipes? Wow!

I haven't been posting regularly in this thread, but Office Hours really has been my favourite media of the quarantine era. 4+ months of nonstop hits.

New show is up and takes the format of an awards show. Hence Tim is looking rather smart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szxBVR0AN2Y

At 3:54 he pointedly references a Joe Rogan podcast that just recently came out that I was coincidentally just watching a bit of.  It is indeed a 5 hour, quite self indulgent talk with Rogan's best mate, a stoner/psychonaut standup comedian called Duncan Trussell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xRz8ra9mdI&t=15160s

Heidecker went on his show once and was audibly irritated by his wooliness of thought: http://www.duncantrussell.com/episodes/2016/7/18/tim-heidecker

He made a couple of earlier appearances on Trussell's podcast as well, not as 'himself' but doing extended character comedy bits.

Very impressed that they managed to get Al Pacino to do the show, wow! I guess he has done some other goofy comedy stuff (mostly with Adam Sandler...) but still cool to see. The Trinity are really moving up in the world.

Great episode, though Uncle Phil was robbed.

Another fantastic episode last week with an all star lineup. Worth checking out for anyone who never got into the earlier iterations of Office Hours.

Maybe I'm just irritable today, but the guest Jay Weingarten rubbed me up the wrong way with his "skit" about neon signs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39Cv8Rd1IYI&t=1h7m

It's as if he was saying "this isn't hacky material because it is  i R o N i C!" and what's more it felt like he was pandering to Tim by imitating the artfully amateurish style of "presenting" on Awesome Show. I mean, he sort of speaks like someone who shouldn't be broadcasting, but he is broadcasting - and that's the joke! On Awesome Show, this was part of the whole vibe of the show. With Weingarten it seems like a crutch.

See also Ben Levin, whose educational/ music videos on YouTube I seem to have developed a bad habit of hate-watching these days.

In perspective though, both of these guests are just there to fill up the space between more important guests... but actually that's what is beginning to annoy me about the show. Tim is squeezing out the weird fans (like me!) in favour of his weird twitterati friends and celebrity friends he just happens to like hanging out with. The name "Office Hours" is fast becoming an anachronism, even after a 4 short years. Obviously it originally referred to the fact that so many young fans wanted to consult him about comedy, music or life in general.

"Sarah Squirm" with the kilos of spaghetti though - that made me laugh - not to be too negative.

(edit: yet that was followed by some interminable stuff with a guest called "Poochie". I feel out of the loop even though I have tuned in every week/ am signed up to the patreon 😖)

(edit the second: I unironically agree with everything Neil Hamburger said about the bleeps and bloops)

What does the W in WOHL ("...Office Hours Live") stand for?

They're parodying morning zoo shows on terrestrial radio, and the call signs for terrestrial radio stations in the U.S. are designated either W--- or K---. Technically if this was broadcasting out of Los Angeles the station would be KOHL, but they seem to be going for more of a mid-Atlantic milieu.

Rizla

I love the WOHL concept, slightly hit or miss that one though. Doug's trader joe story (The Shovel needs to shovel some sheeeeit!) was great, and the Sam Seder interview was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time, his deadpan response to alt.Tim's Drumpf/Cuomo chat was beautiful. Uncle Phil's always good. But yeah, the neon signs guy and the spaghetti eater...meh.

This week's WOHL features an interview with artist Matt Furie and the documentary makers behind new film "Feels Good Man" (go to 30 mins in) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJUmqGurRqk

that was me, sorry

Enjoying this from a, as previously mentioned, total Tim (& Eric) ignoramus perspective.

I just feel heartened by the triad's political perspectives, as much as their comedy ones. I've been following Vic's twitter feed and there's some serious drama on there. It's nice to see that these guys actually stand by their convictions and challenge people, unlike ... well basically Herring and Buxton... this is why I was (possibly a bit overly) complaining about Adam Buxton's kinda centrist leanings on his podcast: I just don't want to hear that limp stuff anymore. I want to hear people actually put their money where their mouth is and I feel OHL is exactly that kind of thing.

They can be political at times and I love when they get people on who argue with Tim, it's good that he can have a genuine debate with people, but it can also very quickly descend into piss taking and silliness, which is also great.

I have a lot of time for OHL and it's genuinely very comforting when I feel that familiar chasm of utter despair that's all around us now!

Tim's standup special is going to be on YouTube innnnnnnn 90 minutes.

Yes! And "Hot Piss" from "Urinal St. Station" to cap it all off.

edit: and a previously unheard YRB song!

QDRPHNC

Fingers crossed you're going to get a studio quality version of I'm a Cuck...

Yep, great show. Although not sure what those last couple of minutes were meant to a satire of (if anything).

Purple Toupee

Can't believe Tim flubbed his classic Coke and Pepsi material, such a shame.

Stand-up part was great. You could tell Tim had really been working on his chunks! Some amazing old school crowd work, don't really see that level of craft much anymore these days.

Didn't need the songs at the end, in my opinion.

McFlymo

the last song seemed to stop suddenly like a really big point had been made, but I failed to get it.
Spoiler alert
About nuclear war and how it just takes one maniac

thought it was a bit limp, personally, but loved everything else. It's great seeing a set that's well thought out and has a few layers at play, without feeling like it's trying too hard. Great stuff!

up_the_hampipe

Loved the special, made me laugh hard at several points. His delivery is so good, he's a master at this shit. But yeah, the songs were a bit of a naff ending.
