Isn't 'God' a weird word?

So ungainly. 'Allah', 'Jehovah' ... these have some poetry ... but 'God'? May as well be another word for shit.

Firmly believe we should call god bog and remove the capital but because he/she/they are truly a cunt of the highest order and he/she/they could barely be trusted to make me some toast.

It's quite nice and Anglo-Saxon, I've always thought. Like "death" and "home". (no research done on this btw)

What if Turd was another name for God?

Makes sense really. Turd is great. Turd is merciful. Praise be to Turd

Certainly the fictional Christian god, were he to exist, would be psychotic.

I like the LORD and the way the LORD is capitalised in my parents' bible.

"Yahweh man, lets go doon the toon".

Every word is weird when you think closely enough about it.  I remember being six or seven and suddenly divorcing 'tree' from its meaning.  I was able to consider 'tree' not as a word but as an abstract sound only, completely meaningless, and wondered how on earth it came to be associated with the woody things sprouting out of the ground.  Panicked me a bit.

Goddo and lickle Jeepus.

Genuinely burst out loud laughing. Just woke up to go the bog and now I'm wide awake.

It's a weird word.  For full weird I think you have to speak it in a soft undertone on an out-breath with the same rhythm as the mindblown gif.  Then it's a marvellous word.

Maybe it's wyrd, tolling, invoking our fate, rolling from the tongue, mystically marking our personal destiny, our geas, our goal.  The route map of seed to tree, spoken in the silence of the place inside the hill.  Who fucking knows, man?

Did you know that bog is the Russian word for God? Бог? I think it's still capitalised though, I'm afraid.

I guess I did know that, if I'd thought about it: Bogoroditsye Dyevo etc. Is there some connection?

marquis_de_sad

God is 'go' in the old Shetland language Norn.
