And alongside the complete rejection of any sort of principle.

Is this really about sovereignty? Then any form of Brexit other than no-deal leaves us de jure worse off than we were before. (And any form whatosever probably leaves us de facto worse off.)

Do individual rights matter in the slightest? However soft you make your Brexit in the service of industry (which, yes, is the pragmatic thing to do for the sake of many people's well-being), you're still withdrawing rights from millions of citizens (while maintaining privileges for capital).

Precisely. Oddly, your words have given great comfort. I don't think people will tolerate this much longer.

I think whatever this thing they're voting on today is it will pass, through a combination of enough ERGs with their own agendas and enough Labour MPs who will shit it at the thought of betraying their constituency. It will make the actual MV3, whatever or whenever that is, a formality. Theresa will be lauded for being victorious, the 'bloody difficult woman' finally winning through, will dither over standing down saying it wouldn't be appropriate until a replacement is ready, and will face several calls to continue.

Labour MP Jim Fitzpatrick, whoever he is, will vote for May's deal. Arse.

You mean...worst case scenario. Thanks for ruining my breakfast croissant and grapefruit juice.

He was my MP when I lived in London. My aunt's fellah was one of his staff. Seemed alright as a local representative but by all accounts he's a massive anti-Corbyn type.

Is it better that a majority get something they can live with, or something that half the country really doesn't want?

There is no right answer to this question. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_efficiency

Anyway, what time's the fucking vote?

14:30, so results by three I'd imagine. My girlfriend'll be on a plane - I'm weirdly jealous, which is probably the first time anyone's ever felt that way about a journey to Portsmouth. We'll all be holidaying there soon though of course!

Portsmouth has an airport?!

Nah, the flight's Glasgow to Southampton, then a train to Portsmouth - in a Play Your Cards Right-style journey through progressively higher-leave-voting areas. Sunderland for blue drink and chicken dippers on the way back no doubt.

DIVISION! It's voting time motherfuckers!

Not my words, but the words of the speaker.

OK, I may have misheard him saying "clear the lobby".

Alberon

Rees-Mogg apparently walking hand in hand with Boris into the Aye lobby.

Bryan Cocks

Eek. Hold tight, ERG! For my reasons, not yours.

Alberon

Labour and Tory sources saying the bill is rejected.

I wouldn't expect anything less. Nowhere near enough Labour rebels, way too many Tory rebels.

58 majority. That should be enough to finally kill it.

What's May going to do now?

QuoteMay is up. "Matter of profound regret that once again we have been unable to support leaving the EU in an orderly manner. The implications are grave."

Exactly. GET IN.

Alberon

Technically her resignation is now void, but can she survive the weekend now?

Talulah, really!

One more push!

Same time next week?

Yeah, I'll have to look at the three majorities and extrapolate to when we might expect the agreement to pass.

Her "resignation" was so fucking vague, she might as well have just committed to another 10 years in the job.

Jerzy Bondov

Lovely stuff. I hope we stay in this limbo forever. Floating in the void. Bliss.

Alberon

The original plan was for May to deliver Brexit and leave taking the stink of it with her. Now she can't even deliver the easiest first part of it.

The Tory MPs must be at the point where they have to remove her.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

QuoteThe exact timing and modalities of the [European Council] are still to be decided, but like last week, the UK PM can be expected to participate in the beginning of the meeting.

Fucking embarrassing.

Reports of punches being thrown in the chamber. Security escorting several members out of the House. The mace was used in one particularly vicious assault

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Agreed
