Just starting out with Soviet Republic (https://www.sovietrepublic.net) which I bought from Steam. Still getting into the swing of the game. Unfortunately not multiplayer, but am enjoying it so far. Anyone else played it?

Zetetic

I haven't played it.

It looks like a tolerable tycoon or citybuilder game with a '60s Soviet paintjob that does nothing actually novel regarding the "planned economy".

Am I wrong?

To a certain extent that would be a good assessment - although I wonder if I have not got into the full depth of the game, I am just building basic stuff. What it seems to be missing a bit is scenarios to play and tutorials, which strike me a bit as key to the game as it does not have a multiplayer mode.

But there are some glorious buildings in it - Slovak Radio building being one example.

Seems to share your opinion. Would agree that I am finding the whole interface a lot fiddlier than something like Transport Tycoon (or Locomotion, its successor).

They seem to be working on improving things, but still finding it a bit fiddly. Could definitely do with a few more tutorials/challenges.
