nominated for best documentary, but lost sadly.

Its very good.

A rustbelt town following 3 kids who share a love for skateboards and erm also have tricky childhoods.

Utterly loved this.

It's visually very beautiful but also quite funny and informative about a certain life. I also found the three mains very charismatic, in fact particularly the problematic guy. I thought the film articulated a complicated sympathy for his lifestyle and behaviour very sadly lacking from most modern discourse, while at the same time condemning his actions.

Mainly, though, for such a weighty subject (young people, shit town, no money, alt lifestyles, domestic abuse, escape, escape, escape) it felt light as air. A dream of a film that just carried me away with it. I know I'll buy it for a load of people this year as a gift.

EDIT TO SAY: Really do watch this, it's great and you won't regret it.

Thought it was okay but not quite to the level of some reviews. He's obviously got the access and the interest and the empathy to get a lot outta the material but there were a few points where the film just felt like it hadn't a clue how to best utilise what was there.

At first when I read this I thought you meant lost as in somehow wiped from the archives already.
