Saw Leo Sayer live last week. Surprisingly solid performance for 70.
Why isn't he more respected? He's got loads of bangers and decent ballads.
Also puts in, sounds good, quite funny.
He then hung around for photos and a chat afterwards with everyone who was keen.
Tell me I'm wrong.

Saw Leo Sayer live last week. Surprisingly solid performance for a man of only 70 cm.
Why isn't he taller? He's got loads of platform shoes and step ladders in his tiny house.
Also puts in, sounds good (if you have a magnifying glass), quite funny.
He then hung around for panoramic photos and a chat afterwards with everyone who was short enough to hear the words coming from his tiny head.
Tell me I suffer from depth perception.

He was created in a laboratory. The result of fusing Wayne Sleep's DNA with that of Bruno Martelli from Fame.

His new album's called Selfie and the cover picture of him isn't a selfie. Looks a right prat the cunt.

Remember when he went on CBB and came across as a tedious, egocentric tosser? Then stormed out of the house in a spectacular hissy fit? That might have something to do with why people don't take him seriously.

He recorded some decent stuff in the '70s, no doubt about that, but I think he's always suffered from an image problem. The Pierrot clown thing was an attention-grabbing gimmick which probably put a lot of critics off him. His subsequent cheeky little chappie persona did him no favours either, he always seemed a bit too eager to please.

It's a shame, really, as the guy has a good voice and some of his songs are alright. If you played something like Giving It All Away to someone without saying who it was, I daresay they'd assume it was the work of a serious, soulful singer-songwriter.

Spectacular treadmill pratfall from Leo in this clip, absolutely first-class bit of buffoonery.

Leo can do it all, there's no end to his talents.

What I like about that clip is how Leo is more than happy to show what a good sport he is by joining in with the silliness, but as soon he makes an accidental tit of himself he immediately tries to gloss over it. Leo is a man who likes to be in control, fun can only be enjoyed on his terms and his terms only.

Leo is to Marvin Gaye what Shakin' Stevens is to Elvis Presley.

Nah. Leo isn't better than Marvin.

I apparently met him on a train in South Africa around the millennium.  I was a kid, but apparently I told my parents he was "a boring man".

I then saw him on Celebrity Big Brother and completely changed my mind.  Legend.

Someone once uploaded a bunch of his highlights from CBB on YouTube.  I like this one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzqGkn4E-oA

The Old Sailor was on this 2002 series of fly-on-the-wall documentary The Entertainers: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2002/sep/16/broadcasting.tvandradio

http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2002/10_october/11/the_entertainers.shtml Louis Theroux was an Executive Producer.

If I recall correctly, almost everyone featured came across as tetchy, tediously boring and/or bumptious. They also all acted as if the point of the game was to try to outwit the makers of the documentary somehow. Leo came across particularly badly.

No real opinion of him as a singer. Found him annoying and drippy when his career was at its height, and I was a kid.

You Make Me Feel Like Dancing is an absolute take-no-prisoners banger.

When I Need You is wonderful, and I don't care how soppy people think the song is, or me for liking it.

Much like the only reason I acknowledge Phil Collins, Leo Sayer is only valid for rhyming slang, like 'i'm off on a Leo this Saturday' or 'cor, it's proper Phil Collins out today'.
