Remember when America and the rest of Anglophone world hated France after the Iraq War? Good times.

They redeemed themselves by helping to destroy Libya and collapse the entire region into chaos.

No claim Macron started the fire as a nationalistic distraction from his problems Biggie? more realistically of course I think its a possible austerity caused accident that many are looking to use in such a fashion, the BBC most obviously who suddenly seem to care about things on fire in France again.

The correct collective noun for ring roads is "an ambulance".

An unkindness, surely.

This is awful. It appears a father and daughter are missing after the fire and an American* called Brooke is asking Twitter to step up the efforts to find them

*presumably**

I hope and pray for a happy ending to be sensationalised in a Netflix film and BBC immersive article soon.

**Windsor, Michigan***

***Not Windsor, Canada

this is the real fucking pits, BBC. I bet she's lying about an hour before as well. Was probably last Thursday or something

I'm waiting for the backlash against the backlash against the backlash against the backlash in the scintillating Notre Dame 'discourse'

Has the Pope been #cancelled yet for refusing to spend any of the Vatican's vast, unknown quantity of wealth on the restoration work?

Urinal Cake

The French Ministry of Culture apparently owns it. Catholic Church uses it.

Paul Calf

Tax-efficient. Also the old 'No children have been nonced on Catholic Church property' truism stays true.

Not so much 'missing' as 'must be dragged screaming from anonymity by an intrusive camera prick with a lust for raising her profile'.

Fucking leave people alone you self-obsessed cunts.

If it was a Catholic arsonist who started the fire he'd still go to heaven as long as he confessed.

No, it's not.  Fuck off with your "poignant" and "historic" photo.  It's hardly Nick Ut's Vietnam War photo of Phan Thị Kim Phúc, now is it?  Fucking attention seeking twitter cunts.

The charred remains of Grenfell is more 'of our times', a testament to neolibralism.

Yep. Isn't a particularly remarkable photo. Seems to be someone seizing the opportunity to gain publicity. One of the supposedly reputable Irish papers has the headline of photo "Minutes before" fire broke out even though in the article it is consistently stated that it was about an hour beforehand. And surely given the footfall; tourist attraction and stuff there are a lot more decent photos from around the time the fire broke out.

That man has ended up with a tattoo which will forever look as though his leg has gone septic.

The several hundred million Euros that will be spent on this could have saved thousands of lives if spent on medicine or disease prevention. Obviously society has decided that this building is more important than human life.

As implied earlier I don't think buildings are more important than lives.
But to be fair, we all make that kind of decision, it's an ingrained human flaw.  Imagine if we donated all the money we spend on the computers and/or mobile devices to be shitposting on here, to medicine or disease prevention causes instead.

Pfft.  Shitposting is of far higher importance.  Every time that someone on here types 'grave', an Ethiopian kid dies.  It's a small price to pay.

She's posting today saying she hasn't found him but respects his anonymity if he doesn't want to come forward. In the meantime, let's all keep searching for him.

I honestly don't understand what she wants this man to do.

Make her a star (for 15 minutes)...and movie rights to the heart-warming story...until it's revealed he is a wanted paedophile.

This GLOBAL shared experience is tiresome and ultimately harmful for the human race.

Imagine having your name on a rebuilt wall in Notre Dame. People may know who you were for another 800 years.

Twed

Hopefully in 2037 when society has gone through a shift in priorities because if we go outside the sun boils our eyes out of their sockets they will have renamed it to the 'Wall of Wankers'. What's that in French? Le Cunts will do.

John Crace in the Guardian says Britain should have donated £10m towards rebuilding Notre Dame given how much was spent on Brexit.

That's like saying if you've destroyed your life spending your and your families life savings on a fruit machine you may as well take out a couple of payday loans and wire it all to a donkey sanctuary on your way down
