If you don't like this record you don't actually like pop music...

With me it's Tiger Feet by Mud. As far as I'm concerned anyone who puts it down actually has cloth ears, ie ears made of cloth. It's pop music at its very best and nobody can ever change my mind. Others may disagree. So what is the record you can't contemplate anyone not liking and still claiming to be a pop music fan? If you have one of course. Don't bother if you don't.

I will not try to change your mind, and I agree. It's a great sound (wonder who really plays on those Chinnichap songs) and is packed with action from
start to end.

I nominate Wouldn't it be Nice by  Brian and the boys, another song of joy

Taylor Swift's latest single "ME!" featuring Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie

sevendaughters

- Pet Shop Boys, 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?'

- Carly-Rae Jepsen, 'Call Me Maybe'
- Mary Wells, 'My Guy'

Pleasant Valley Sunday by The Monkees

Hell yeah, it's utterly joyous.

I do like everything in this thread except the one comedy answer

chveik

ABBA - SOS
Sparks - When I'm With You
Martha & The Vandellas - In My Lonely Room
The Shangri-La's - Give Him A Great Big Kiss

jobotic

Also, Put a Ring on it.

I hate Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (it's her voice grating in me).

I would nominate The Clapping Song by Shirley Ellis. Surely, the only reason anyone could not like it is if they were somehow repeatedly subjected to it as a child against their will. It's perfect.

Sin Agog

Could be so many things, but I'll go with Family Fodder - Debbie Harry (better than any actual Blondie song).

Mel & Kim - Respectable
Mel & Kim - Showing Out
Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait

Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy

Most of what's on Madonna's Immaculate Collection, if we are being honest.

Or just being in every bar in Glasgow in the mid 2000s

The obvious answer is Michael Jackson depending on how innocent you want him to be.

The Jackson 5- I want you back for total innocence or
Michael Jackson- Rock with You for pretty innocent or
Michael Jackson- Billie Jean for getting guilty or
Michael Jackson- Bad for probably guilty or
Michael Jackson- Remember the Time for guilty.

I've always thought that Rock with You was his greatest.

I second that emotion.

bigfatheart

Freda Payne, 'Band of Gold'

I also second the nomination of 'Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)'.

Yazoo - Don't Go
Aretha - Think
Blondie - Hanging on the Telephone

Sin Agog

Maybe Iko Iko because it's so minimalist that there are no inbuilt genre and production prejudices. Well, unless you think it's too stripped-down.
