Presumably that's for recording current stuff? I was lamenting the loss of full archives from the days when it was technologically impossible, but this is cool too.

Around 2006 I did have the capability to pull raw transport stream off the air. I wish I kept some of it, although I wouldn't have had the storage space for more than a few hours.

Just done a quick search and seen an episode of Richard Bacon's Beer & Pizza Club from 2011. It had the credits of a James Bond film and the adverts on at the start of the clip.


I think stuff is more limited from the 90s though.

Not sure if you can get a full TV schedule from 1998 though for example. You have to search for stuff individually.

It has transcripts though. Here's the start of a transcript from an episode of This Week from 2007. Although I am assuming they are autocreated. It is hard to tell with This Week

I think you can purchase an individual researcher access but it is not that cheap.

I used to work at one of the archives, we housed it in our library store. I was one of the people that would locate the correct tape and copy what was required.

Lots and lots and lots of this for Brit stuff too. Brit nerds are so good at archiving TV.

Another thing I love is that people are doing signal analysis on the vblank on VHS recordings to see what Teletext they can extract. It used to be limited to S-VHS, but the techniques are refined well enough for regular recordings now.

Myspleen often has uploads which are 3 hours + of one night's worth of tv, it tends to be US stuff though and it's not open for registration right now, but hopefully will be in the future.
