It's defamation, but it's a civil matter and British libel law is a tool and a toy for the rich and powerful.

It'd be great if he did though. And donated all the money he was awarded to Palestinian causes.

Andrew Neil spouting painfully stupid bollocks in his This Week monologue regarding Panorama. Claiming Labour is hypocritical because in the past they've praised Panorama but are now condemning it. Obviously you have to love or gate everything they've ever done, no in between. I don't know how a man as smart as him can subscribe to that logic.

He's a lifelong Conservative.

A few thoughts now I've had some to digest.

1. It was, as we expected, nothing new and simply a emotional and televised version of the Time expose back in March.

2. There was a clear attempt to appeal to younger voters.  Several weeks before there was some groundwork done on suggesting that younger voters were disaffected with Corbyn (didn't go to glasto etc...).  This is marked change from previous tactics which argued that young people were simply naive and voting for idealists notions of leftism.  I heard several times direct appeals to young voters to try and communicate with others that Corbyn isn't ok.  Interesting that many whistleblowers were of such a young age.

3. It has failed yet again.  The story has not been largely taken to by journalists likely due to two things; a worry on the left about damage to reputation as the claims are based on shaky evidence plus clear attempts to doctor emails etc, and also hysteria regarding AS does not play well on the right-wing as it is contradictory to notions of PC gawn mad.

Sure it is damaging to some degree but it has rapidly over-reached already with Watson coming out badly i.e. being horrified yet present (my guess is he is, to use the "leaked" LP press teams words, an outrider that is looking to capitalise rather than involved in the political weaponisation of AS.

Final thought, please please PLEASE stop going on about the Israel government and stick to Blairites vying for the political assassination of Corbyn; if people have got to refer to lobby then fine it is relevant as evidence of other governmental interference but better to focus on the Blairites in the party that are clearly unhappy about Corbyn.

Israel is at the centre of all this Trenter.

Presumably because saying Israel is influencing our politics will be used as evidence of AS.

Then when Tom Watson gets deselected, he can say he was forced out because of his opposition to AS.

Why?

Because there's absolutely nothing to be gained from doing so at this point in time.

I've definitely seen that.

Someone tried to suggest that I'd said it was controlling mp's (bordering on AS) and that talking of lobbying was antisemetic.

I then pointed out what friends of Isreal is, and that it's definition "a group in the Parliament of the United Kingdom that promotes support for a strong bilateral relationship between Britain and Israel, and seeks to strengthen ties between the British Labour Party and the Israeli Labor Party." is a bit lobbyish and they went 'well, of course lobbys exist, nobody's saying they don't exist'.

Ludicrous.  Anyone can see Tom Watson is a giant cunt, whatever position on the political spectrum they occupy.

Being serious on the AS thing.  It was obvious to me that the "Blairite" or whatever, attackers had another relationship in common with each other, right from the outset, if you compared the members of Labour Friends of Israel with the names of those attacking the Labour Party, there was an obvious relationship.

When I saw The Lobby though, when I saw people like Joan Ryan and Ella Rose and Luke Akehurst working with Shai Masot, that was proof.  There was no need to join any dots, it was sat there, right in front of me with its legs open.

It's a dangerous insanity when we're not allowed to notice, comment on or remember, the nakedness of our rulers.

I suppose it would be more politically expedient to stick to a line: Watson is a bully and is publicly damaging the Labour Party. While refusing to give any credence to his claims of defending Jews.

Buelligan

I don't know, my problem with politics has been for a long time, cunts and their expedience.  It's one of the things that's meaningful to ordinary people, they feel like Corbyn isn't playing games.

I don't think we should encourage game-playing, Watson spoke of the need for disinfection by sunlight, we should give all these shadow-puppets that, clarity and spotlights.  No playing their games.  Balls to them.

Never trust a fat man who becomes thin. If it ever happens to me (it won't)...you have my permission to dump by feathery torso in a tar pit.

GIVE MOMENTUM MONEY:

Dear pancreas,

It's happening. Labour have kicked off the process for choosing our General Election candidates, and we have the chance to select the next generation of socialist MPs. This is a big moment, but we need your support.

Why are you trying to stir this?  Everyone here knows exactly where you stand.

The countries were not nearly so close in Israel's first decades so I was interested to know peoples opinions as to why they are so close, that was all.

I've only watched 40 seconds of the programme so far to note that it opens up with a soft-lit and pastel-lipsticked Ella Rose talking, in a slightly broken voice about how she feels threatened as a Jewish person and how she's been the victim of antisemitism within the Labour Party.  Poor Ella.

Here she is covertly filmed talking about how she could physically attack Jackie Walker, a fellow Jew, using Krav Maga.

Poor little Ella.

Good spot, Buellers. I had no idea who she is. I see it's mentioned here:

And the man at minute 16ish was Alex Richardson.

He worked as Joan Ryan's assistant when she was Chair of Labour Friends of Israel, remember that footage of the 2016 Party Conference where they fitted up party member, Jean Fitzpatrick?

Quote from: Jonathan Cook on 5 March 2019In 2016, Jean Fitzpatrick privately challenged Ryan on the margins of the party conference over the MP's lack of support for the Palestinians. Ryan immediately accused Fitzpatrick of using anti-semitic tropes about Jews and bankers.

Fitzpatrick would have found herself one of those "anti-semites" hounded out of the party had she not been very lucky. Al Jazeera was making an undercover documentary about the collusion between the Israeli embassy and groups like Labour Friends of Israel, both of them intent on ousting Corbyn from the leadership. Unknown to Ryan, the exchange with Fitzpatrick was caught on film and shows that there was nothing about Jews or bankers, or anything anti-semitic, in what she said.

Yes?  Well here is Alex, sitting next to Joan, concocting that allegation.

Alex is also an officer in Jewish Labour Movement, along with Izzy Lenga (the tshirt woman I named upthread).

Durham Miners' Gala today!

I've been twice before and it's a really fun left-wing knees-up if you are in the area.

Jeremy Corbyn will be speaking... And the County Hotel is making its usual show of support.

More support this morning coming from some boy scouts in Chingford who spontaneously broke into the 'oh Jeremy Corbyn' chant on BBC Breakfast live...
