The straight-to-video ones got weirdly revolting in a way the theatrical ones never really did. One of them (possibly Naked Mile) opens with the main character having a fully nude living room standing wank to hardcore pornography, while wearing headphones. His family (obviously) walk in right as he finishes, and he accidentally jizzes all over his grandmother, who immediately has a heart attack and dies. Moving SWIFTLY on with the film

Another good American Pie memory for me is in American Pie 2 at the party where each main character in turn looks across the party to another main character and they both raise a red cup. Compared to Revenge of the Nerds, the American Pie lot are saints.

Chiming in on the straight-to-video ones.  Band Camp and Book of Love are closest to the tone of the proper series, with the Book of Love basically being a remake of the first one via Superbad (and an odd scene where someone gets raped by a moose).  Naked Mile and Beta House, especially, are closer in tone to Salo — properly grim in a very bleak way.  Genuinely repulsive films that just made me feel really sorry for Eugene Levy's involvement.  I hope he got paid very well and never saw them.

The proper films are all fine in their own way.  Remarkable how tame the first one seems now, in comparison to the teen sex comedies it inspired.

Watched it the other night with my wife. Lot of it would go down badly these days with the nu-puritanical scumbag fun police online but we really enjoyed it. The filming without consent.
