Been really loving this stuff recently, my mate's always banging on about it and she's well into the scene and hooks me up with all the hottest of the hot shit. Last night a couple of us went to Five Miles (an excellent little venue and brewery with a top selection of beers, never been to a bad night there, highly recommend it) for an Italo festival and it was banging. 2pm till 4am, pop up Italian pizza and gnocchi stalls, Alexander Robotnick and Bobby Analog headlining. Brilliant. Whole place was jumping, everyone was smiling and having a wicked time, fucking loved it. Great way to send off the weekend.

Listen to this, man. Fucking ace.

Not my kind of Dolmio day but it's got a certain charm.

Yeah, one of the best genres.  Once edited together a communal italo-disco mega-mix on RYM, and I still listen to that blighter all the time.

Bagarre's Lemonsweet is one of my favourite ever songs, but I can't find the bloody version of it I love on youtube.  It's bout taking acid in the club and so adorably engrishy.
I think this is the one.  Bloody remixes. https://soundcloud.com/audioscotch/lemonsweet-bagarre

Also Dancing Therapy is pretty close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzK5asq0Dz4

one of the greatest forms of music ever. then the 90s happened and it became house, and it was still great (eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV_fq7RJtMI ). if I had to listen to just one style of music for the rest of my days Italo Disco could be it.

For the amount of people who rate Italo Disco as their favourite genre (it is approximately everyone who has heard it) it is mad that the artists aren't as highly paid and respected as, say, Tiesto or Daniel O'Donnell.

Imagine that new Richard Curtis film but instead of The Beatles no one has ever heard Italo. It'd be very different because everyone would have committed suicide before yer man started ripping off the tunes.

oh my, I had never heard Woodpeckers From Space before...

I love this one ere from Lowell, 'No Matter', just reissued https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2lUfbLspPM

And of course, My Mine's 'Hypnotic Tango', also recently reissued by the peerless Dark Entries https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHvA0QFDoVY (pure pleasure, this one)

Used to have a regular DJ slot at an 80s dance music night and would regularly play the two Clio tunes above. Mesmerisingly beautiful pop music, with the added bonus that everyone thinks Faces is Adamski's Killer when it starts.

I saw Alexander Robotnik last year, my friend found his email address and invited him over - fellow doesn't even have an agent! He was a great bunch of lads and brought some very potent cannabis with him from Italy.

The tunes are hard to get hold of on vinyl over here for a decent price as they were rarely released in Britain but I happened to go to Germany last year and picked up some absolute bangers for 4/5 euros each. Tunes like these:

Silver Pozzoli - Around My Dream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fs3UcO_JhU
Miko Mission - The World Is You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THGhHlVm_Gk
Ken Laszlo - Hey Hey Guy https://youtu.be/Mz6EijdvyFw
Jock Hattle - Yes/No Family https://youtu.be/vU-BFHBPa9E

Favourites of all time are the aforementioned Signor Robotnik's Problemes D'Amour and the immense Take A Chance by Mr Flagio.

This is great it's so good. I love these italo threads that spring up every couple of months or so, because there's so much of it, and it's so hard to cut the cheese, so recommendations are always appreciated.

Picked this lovely tune up in Germany last year - Sandy Marton - People From Ibiza https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMkIVeXXm8U

Always walks a very fine line for me with most being forgettable and samey but the best stuff is absolutely blinding, wistful, piercing, unique, ecstatic, bumping.

Such influential music really. Massive influence on early Chicago house, and also New Order as well as SAW chart pop. It feels like a warm bath for my cynical yet Xtreme Gen X soul.

(Sorry for posting my own shit but me and a mate made this Italo pastiche ages ago, I like it: https://soundcloud.com/noahbbrown/city-night-boys-feel-my-energy )

Aye, I like quite a few Italo cuts but the problem I've had getting into the genre is that it seems really poorly served by compilations and overviews; I can't imagine that there are many great Italo albums around, it's very much a singles genre, so surely someone like Soul Jazz should have been on the game ages ago? It's had currency among hipsters and clubsters for some time.

Edit: Strut seem to have one comp out, but with mixed reviews. And one review on Amazon claiming the disc is full of prewar German speeches, which is bemusing to say the least.

Not exactly Italo, but can anyone identify the tune used in this documentary I recently watched at 30.36 here? It's probably something really obvious but there's only a snippet and couldn't Shazam it. https://youtu.be/WuTACUpdPMc?t=1838

Possibly at the Hi-NRG end of the Italo spectrum is this banger from 1986 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcjgY31FNvM&t=6s
