I'm off out for my first ever canvas session today, wish me luck!

Stories please!

Hmm. God knows what's going to happen in Bishop. Knife-edge.

So much 'I can't vote Labour because I don't like Jeremy Corbyn because he's not a leader because he won't take a side on Brexit.'

'Well—don't vote for Corbyn, vote for the NHS. etc.'

'I work for the NHS.'

'And you're thinking of voting for BORIS!?!?!??!'

'I'm sorry. I'm sorry.'

'Just stop thinking about it. Stop thinking right now. Vote Labour. It's the right thing to do.'

'Eugh. Maybe. I just ...'

Thank fuck for the socialist nans. The men are AWFUL.

That video is not bad, btw. But you don't have that much time on the doorstep mostly. I did get invited in for a sit down with an ex-miner and got him to agree to vote Labour again. Sure he didn't need much of a push, but it was good to nail it down. I let myself have that, but normally you shouldn't spend a whole 10 minutes with people.

Some good conversations today ...

Went for a walk today and saw a bloke doing leaflets for Labour in a deprived part of town. Nice one I thought. Then I went and sat against a tree on the edge of a damp wood and smoked a couple of joints.

Fair play to you people canvassing, that is a big deal and you all have the patience and intelligence and determination most of us can only hope to have. I couldn't bear it.

Nearly had a row with my father-in-law earlier when he called Corbyn a twat. Told him that every member of his family would benefit from a labour government. It was well awkward but I am determined to challenge every bit of shite I hear regardless of who says it, especially if it's someone who really should know better (working class upbringing, elderly and in need of nhs, children and children-in-law work public sector jobs, numerous grandchildren in state education etc).

Have you read the manifesto?
No.
There's lots of great stuff like [summary of policies].
Cuh! How are they going to pay for that?
WITH TAXES YOU BRAINWASHED OLD CUNT

Part of the reason I'v done it a few times this time around isn't just the importance but because its really not that difficult, not in terms of results of course but the arguments are pretty easy to make, just ask someone what were interested in and most of the time you have some pretty simple points to make. I can imagine going door to door in say 2010 wouldn't have been nearly as easy and needed a much more indepth knowledge.

Maybe helps if you have experience of talking to strangers in your career but after the ice break the reality is unlikely to be that bad, granted I spose being white makes you not a direct target of racists of which there have been a few(all Tory or Brexit). I think most people accept that a few visits come election time is acceptable so your not getting treated like a cold caller.

Plus of course a lot of it isn't even about changing minds with talk, its about getting voting intension so that potential Labour voters can get visited on election day to make sure they've voted. Even if you've not done anything else I would guess that's perhaps the most vital time to volunteer? when having very large numbers just as people are getting home from work or bringing childen back from school will be important. Would you echo that Pancreas or am I talking bollocks?

I love Manchester Momentum so much.

Sure, but I think the point is, as mentioned above - ask questions and listen, let them explain why it makes sense to vote Labour themselves.

I got a bloke today who has never voted, didn't even know if he was registered, seemed absolutely clueless. Didn't even seem to know there was an election on, that's how disengaged he was. He was about to close the door and I said "well are there any issues that are important to you?" He opened the door up wide and had a think, said he hadn't thought about it. A couple of minutes later he was asking how to vote, what day is the vote etc. He said if he does vote he'll vote Labour since I'm the only person who's bothered knocking.

I seriously doubt he's registered by how uninterested he was but you never know. Still shows what a difference it can make.

You'll be able to get your mental health sorted if Labour get in.

The Lobster security journal has loads of stuff on M15 infiltrating Trot groups/generally doing everything in their power to subvert a socialist order.

Or yeah, just pretend everyone who doesn't want agree with you is mentally ill if you want to be a Guardian journalist/occasional standup comic.

If Bristol-area cabbers can get the time off work/campaigning, Corbyn will be at a rally on College Green at 1400 Monday afternoon.

You appear to have graduated from the biggytitbo reading comprehension scheme. I, and others, call you out on your shite not because it's different but cos it's shite. Perhaps you're right. Perhaps you're just an objectionable cunt with horrid beliefs, rather than sick in the head. I was being nice and giving you the benefit of the doubt.

No idea of accuracy, but this thread has given me some hope

Nice catch.

I'm about 80% sure that Middlesbrough S & EC is not coming back to us, but this gives a bit more hope for elsewhere.

This is the bit in Metal Gear Rising when the lyrics kick in and the battlefield changes and you know you're gonna fight thrice as hard.

RULES OF NATURE!!!

lurker here.

If anybody here lives in a marginal and wants to campaign or otherwise help on the 11th or 12th but can't take a day off due to financial stuff pm me please and maybe i can transfer you £50 or something. Out the country unexpectedly and feeling quite helpless

or if anyone has other suggestions as to what i could do with my warchest then please let me know.

keep working everyone, the contest is closer than it seems

idunnosomename

cant you give 50 quid to labour or momentum? i mean i know we'd do it with bants but the party's keen for funds because they cant do endless mailouts like cchq

can anybody with more info tell me whether or not they need it and if so whether they'll be able to mobilise it in time? already given them some and don't just want to shovel in more money if it's not going to be useful

honeychile

Momentum are mostly asking for people's time, but i would think they could use any dosh to buy more targeted ads on social media. Not certain though. Corbyn did a big email fundraiser just a couple of days ago which raised £300,000 so the moeny's still wanted.

I am leafletting almost every spare minute for the next two days as our final leaflet delivery came in late.

alright great i'll send them some more. thanks

Did some leafletting this morning with my son in a backpack carrier - ran up about 40 flights of stairs with that extra weight, I'm absolutely knackered. This campaigning lark is good for walking, I've gone over 10km pretty much every day for the last week. Wondering if I can pop my son in the backpack carrier again to do some doorknocking tomorrow afternoon. We had around 60 different people canvassing today in Edinburgh North and Leith, think that's the highest on a week day so far.

Does anyone know what the latest time is that it is deemed socially acceptable to do Dialogue app / phonebanking? I was a bit reluctant to do some this evening as I was only free at about 8:30pm.
