Thank you, and Dr Rock for his info, too.

Yeah I get paid tomorrow so they're gonna get some of my wonga, Labour too, but slightly less.

Is it better to make donations to Momentum, then? I made one to Labour, and plan to make more as the campaign progresses. Would they be better directed to Momentum instead next time?

TrenterPercenter

So far i've got myself booked in for some envelope stuffing tomorrow, some leafleting and phone banking in the week.  Will see what the crack is then maybe some big boy stuff.

Have contacted the momentum thing (tbh i'm not keen at parties within parties but I have been impressed with momentum and how it appears to be run) and waiting to hear back from them.

did my bit today. old geezer huffin and puffin in the train station lifts, moaning about the last minute platform alteration. 'well, that's privatised rail for you!' i say. he's like 'never actually saw it that way mate. you know what, that lovely mr corbyn will be getting my vote after all'.
not really he says 'no it isn't' and we stop speaking.

Did you tell him you used to work for trains? Missed opportunity if you forgot to pull rank and put him in his place.

Bunged a tenner to a few candidates local to me who I like. You might find some to donate to on here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/search/projects

Thanks partially to the general encouragement here, I have been out doorknocking for the first time today. Definitely a bit out of my comfort zone, but I did find it quite enjoyable at times. Had an SNP member seemingly try and get me to vote for SNP instead, also said he might be a labour supporter under 'the other Miliband'. Because he wasn't going to vote Labour I could tell him how much I disagreed. Another guy after saying he wasn't interested and shutting his door, came back out of his house three times to shout little extra snippets expanding on his views - "my cause is independence", "I'm a socialist", "the labour party are just red tories". Pretty amusing. One thing I noticed was pretty much everyone previously down as a Green voter has switched to Labour (a no brainer really).

Great job Pie Pie Eater, are you gonna go again?

Pie Pie Eater

Yep, going to squeeze as much in as I can. Bit tricky as I work 4 days 8-6 and look after my son on the other weekday, but I'll be out on Saturdays and I've taken the week of the election off. I need to get a bit better at directing it to general conversation, I keep resorting to asking them if they mind telling me who they're planning on voting for. Think I also need to pick an 'opening' to stick to so I can focus on making my delivery a bit more confident.

idunnosomename

I went out canvassing today (well I stood behind someone and smiled). Baptism of fire with first two "Corbyn should detained under mental health act/I'm not a racist but immigrants" and "I feel sorry for you supporting these communists" (lol communism if only mate). My MP was there too and they're great which helps

Whatever not everyone has to vote for you but you need to keep the previous voters on your side in a Brexity marginal. Some people were nice and there was one young fella who was undecided, voted remain but really understood all issues around the deals.

Im going to try my best to get the tories out and a lefty government in despite my crippling anxiety that im a fucking dumb idiot.

Sin Agog

Y'all be careful out there on the frontlines! Had to break up a fight a couple of hours ago between a feral rottweiler of an angry young man and ten or eleven protestors outside the greyhound track.  Only got into it because his wife and kids were crying down the road for me to help.  He later clocked me and asked me if I was with those 'dog-people.'  I told him I was just breaking up the fight on his missus' request and I didn't have a dog in the race, so to speak.  His response: 'Is that some kind of fucking joke?!'

Pot's boiling over.

idunnosomename - the closer to government I get the more apparent it becomes that nobody knows what they are doing at all. Don't doubt yourself, because even the jokers at the top are totally blagging it in the hope that lady luck will look favourably upon them. Ministers are only where they because they have a talent for appearing on top of things and in control.

Something that you have which most of them don't is that you actually believe in something. Forget all that other noise.

idunnosomename

Oh i know. No one in history has played 4D chess. Its all just spontaneous pissing about.

Some people are arrogant selfish cunts and won't help anyone, just got to make sure they're in the voting minority.

At school my mate Barry Grandmaster said he had a set that his uncle had sent him from America but we weren't allowed to go round and see it.

What constituency is this? Just curious in case you turn up at my door (because then I can make a CaB reference).

Edit: Just saw your post in the other thread. You're not too far away from me... Are you considering doing Leith itself?

pancreas

Street stall at the Monument in Newcastle today. Had a guy singing cheese so we could shimmy along to that while thrusting leaflets at people. So it was quite fun.

Couple of 'Can't stand Corbyn's. If in the split second necessary you can get them to tell you why they don't like him because you do and leave them with something like: 'he gets a bad rap in the press because they know they can't buy him' then you at least plant a seed...

From a quick scan of the dates, I think there's one day at least this month when I'll be out in Leith, and probably a decent chance in the week of the election (unless I decided to help out somewhere else... Danielle Rowley in Midlothian has < 1000 majority so I might go there.

idunnosomename

leafleting the fuck out of what my adjacent constituency has left today before the election period proper starts on weds

it's all about spend limits. got a mail from BORIS HIMSELF the other day about the NHS. it's because it doesn't count as election spending until Weds

Has anyone heard back from them yet? Me and a few friends haven't and wanted to check if anyone had experienced otherwise.

Went door knocking today and got dog shit on my shoe.

idunnosomename

Check junk. There's all sorts of 'join the call' emails I've been getting. At the moment it's local WhatsApp groups with all the energy. We're in a total sea of red here, so it's a case of picking a marginal to campaign in and carpooling. Fortunately it looks like we're going on strike soon, so that'll be good for campaigning.

Dr Rock

Feel free to post this about if anyone wants to.

I have, I've even contacted them personally but they seemed offended by my question.

How do you join a whatsapp group btw? Is it just word of mouth?

Yes. You're not in Newcastle/North East are you? I can hook you up. First WhatsApp group is free. Then you pay.

kitsofan34

I'm in brighton and managed to get in one through luck, but need ones for friends in cardiff and nottingham.

Have asked on the Talk Socialism megachat.
