Someone's beliefs and idealogies aren't the major deciding factor. Neither is probably mental illness. As some professor on PBS pointed out it's probably a person's noticeable anger and lack of impulse control that is the bigger risk. People who seem to make empty threats who usually get authorities or police called on them but just get a warning. When what should happen is that their guns get taken away and be stopped from purchasing guns. In the case of the Daytona shooter this is what should've happened. There was probably enough online indicators for the El Paso shooter as well.
