Golden E. Pump

I was going to launch into a beautifully syllabic and detailed description of why this is the best chorus of all time, but just fucking listen to this chorus man:

It's Everlasting Love by Love Affair. Fight me.

Golden E. Pump

Nah man, doesn't even rhyme.

Nothing rhymes with 'frog' except for coined words for made up shit like tog and clog and dog. That last one may be the downfall of my argument.

famethrowa

Nah it's Happy Together. The explosion of that first note of the chorus leaps out of the minor-key verse, and the surprise bIII chord pushes it just that bit further up your jacksie. Expertly sung by 2 goofy bastards, and the band back up with some tremendous ahhhhs

The one in Chorus by Erasure.

Rizla

it's get ready by the temptations you plums

Good choice, but science has proven that the best chorus is from "Rubberband Man"

greenman

Written by a twat but its Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, especially if the coda based on it counts.

TheMonk

Don't you want me baby?
Don't you want me ooooooooh oh

I know what you mean, but that "magic/tragic" rhyme is particularly, erm, tragic.

A favourite of mine at the moment is 'Black Metallic' by Catherine Wheel, especially at the end when it blasts back in after the quiet section.

samadriel

First song that came to mind was Ruby Tuesday.

jobotic

Does the "walk right up to him" bit of Give Him A Great Big Kiss count? If it does its that.

Compared to some Sting lyrics though I don't really have an issue with that as the whole track is quite unpretentious and playful so a simple rhyme fits quite nicely , "shake and cough" and "Nabokov" trying to sound deep on the other hand....

The one Colin Newman says before the, um, refrain kicks in on "Map Ref. 41°N 93°W."

It's a kick in the teeth for nominative determinism but the chorus of Chorus isn't even in the top 50 Erasure choruses.

And doesn't really have a chorus!

It's just one psychological drama after another.

I agree with that.  Another favourite chorus is Sky High, Jigsaw.

Also that of Little does she Know, Kursaal Flyers.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

It's either the aforementioned Everlasting Love or Happy Together or Daydream Believer by The Monkees. All other choruses are mere footnotes.
