I turn 27 next week. I still feel 16 but when someone two years younger than you at the beginning of their proper life takes theirs, good god.

The 'aftercare' of the industry is shocking. Children put into a mill and then spat out as adults. It is impossible to regulate the fanbase and the media. Though I think the fanbase has become better, it seems some elements of Korean media make it a point to never change.

Twice- Fake & True

Like a throwback to garage which is a bit more interesting than Feel Special to me. Though horn-synths are cheese.

Just caught up with all this. The suicide is utterly grim and puts my little tantrum on here into some persepective. Don't forget we have our own mirror with the Love Island/Reality TV suicides from last couple of years. It must be so difficult. I am a teacher (yes I have outed myself) and I quit my job last year at school round the corner from me and I bump into kids every few day who remember me and they are without fail nice and friendly, but even then I feel uncomfortable with the "fame". To scale that up to literally hundred of millions of people following me around would be intoreable and life destroying.

There is also that thing of people expecting you to live a celebrity lifestyle but ultimatley you are skint, unemployable and disliked and resented as much as you liked. Dreadful stuff.

I like that Twice track but its more style over substance. It's fine.

Edit: YouTube has sent me to Monsta X. Assume they are new. Quite like it. Best male k-pop I have heard in a while. Soul k-pop stuff. I don't love it but I don't hate it.

Ooo... I like Monsta X. It's that awful dubstep sound I would normally hate but it just enough of a variation from the Backstreet Boys sound that I associate with most male K-pop to be enjoyable. It is almost lo-fi house at times.

Well you can't accuse me of not being on the pulse. Wonho has quit Monsta X https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/monsta-x-singer-wonho-quits-20763527

To my taste they are the best current k-pop boyband. Oh well... cancelled to fuck now.

I've been sucked into the Taeyeon thing too. Is it any good? For what I have heard it's fine but i just can't be doing with solo k-pop acts. So inevitably I've landed on this with "dance practice" Google. Yes.

The industry seems to be having a reckoning which is a good thing. A suicide, a suicide attempt, a number of people quitting or taking a hiatus. I think fans get it but will the management companies?

I like IU (though her courting controversy thing is whatever) but Yubin (formerly of Wonder Girls) surprised me as she much like Grohl was just the drummer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlGjbdZdiqE or the hot one who was left to the raps of the group. But her new single for a RnB/city-pop track is coool  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6M-GNLCPf2I

Goo Ha-ra  another suicide at 28.  She was one of the idols whose image I'd frequently use when teaching English out there. She was a really popular idol at the time. Since then she's had an arsehole ex threaten to release a sex tape, a suicide scare a few months back. Only saw a pic of her performing in Japan last week and thought to myself oh good, hopefully she's doing better. Now she's gone. Fucked up.

Her situation was made worse by her celebrity. She suffered public scrutiny by going to Court/public because of reasons.
