Smith and Jones home videos

I remember these quite fondly (though not seen them in yonks).
There were sketches within the usual sketch show and then a full length Xmas special.
Basically, a family home video with a commentary of the characters watching it later. About 1990?
Seems a bit ahead of its time? Not sure it was that well received?
I remember:
Jones trying to deliver a Xmas eve message, sat on a toilet, dressed as Father Christmas but endlessly being interrupted by a drunken Smith (his character, I mean) breaking into laughter.
"The annual nicking of the Christmas tree' ritual.
