I asked an Actual Woman about this and she said the reason so many responses are LTB is because the people saying it are likely putting up with loads from their DH and in an ideal world they'd love to be able to just walk out but for various reasons don't or can't.

Made sense but then I remembered it was a woman telling me this so I just discounted it immediately.

It's probably the same reason the r/relationships subreddit on reddit has a reputation for always telling people to leave their partners (even though I don't believe the reputation to be accurate) - a short post online about a conflict will always paint the other person in a pretty bad light, and miss the three-dimensional picture of them you would have if you actually knew them. It's always like 'He signed me up to Scientology as a joke, and now I'm a slave on one of their Sea Org ships, but he is usually really nice and caring so can you stop slagging him off in the comments please'.

The ones we/people laugh at are the ones full of emotional martyrdom. I think they happen because these people live in suburbs and only have their children and gormless husband for contact, it's no wonder any event is an excuse for histrionics really.
