Please help me settle a bizarre argument, which is continuing on my website.

The other night Blur's 'Song 2' came on the TV at a mate's house, to which I remarked how long ago it came out, meaning 1997. A mate then argued that it had come out earlier than that, saying it was 1992.

I need to prove him wrong! I've done simple things like searching HMV.co.uk, you can see the album 'Blur' definitely came out in 1997, but I want stonewall proof the single 'Song 2' came out in 1997.

Help! And it's such an inane argument.

It was 1997.

"Parklife" wasnt released until the 25th April 1994.  I know this because it was my eighteenth birthday. Factamundo.

So  your friend hasnt got a clue and should be ashamed.

Or maybe he's thinking of Popscene?

I have the single in my hands right here, and it was definitely 1997.

What may have confused your friend is that the videos to Song 2 and Popscene were both shot on a very similar-looking set (with the carpet on the walls). Popscene came out around '92.

There's a discography here that confirms what you're saying.

Tell your mate to google!

Or maybe he has already and can't admit he was wrong.
