Lots of fuss on Twitter about this even though a) it's already on Amazon Prime b) it's not on until 2021 and c) most people in the UK have never watched it. A good PR job by them though.

Amazon are a disgusting company though and people shouldn't give their money to then

I thought it had been taken off Prime, but a quick look and it's still on there, it's time for a rewatch I think, it's been a few years so nce I watched them

You know they send you stuff in exchange for that money, right? It's not just like a big pit, there's trading involved.

Wonder if it'll be HD cause its on film

The zoomed in wide-screen HD that crops a tiny bit off the bottom and top for width

Want as full and complete a screen as possible! But if you look at comparisons the HD versions crop shit out

steveh

It's HD on Amazon.

Still seems to be unclear if Steve Bannon continues to make money off viewings of the show: https://www.vulture.com/2017/04/did-steve-bannon-really-make-millions-from-seinfeld.html.

As a consumer and a member of society you have a responsibility for where you spend your money. If they were using their profits to kill babies would that just be "trading" decision?

Nope! Although the actual point is that we can't we perfect with our buying decisions, but we can try to avoid the worst offenders. Which Amazon clearly is. And Apple has actually taken real steps to improve its human rights record in recent years.

Anyway, Seinfeld is a great show and I'm happy it's coming to Netflix.

I've never seen it but I feel as if I should so if I still have Netflix when it comes on it'll be a good chance to. Is the general consensus that it's aged well and would still work on a new audience or have I missed the boat?

There will probably be trending smug articles about how Babu Bhatt is problematic.

Cuellar

Had a really really great time searching twitter for 'Seinfield' instead of 'Seinfeld' the other day.

Should have been searching for 'Seimfeld'.

I'd say it's aged well, but the common consensus is to start at season 3 and loop around to the first two seasons once you know the characters. Although I'd watch "The Chinese Restaurant" from season 2 first as it's a classic.

From S4, watch The Contest, The Outing, and The Shoe. If you like those go back to S1 and start form the beginning.

What's the deal with massively overrated shows.

shiftwork2

Ha, I was waiting for you.

Currently on a rewatch and it's great stuff.  Notwithstanding the worst theme tune in TV history.  The stand up bits are of variable quality admittedly but never quite descend into 'brass hand fell off'.

I've actually gone off it a bit too since realising how much Linehan cribbed

From season 9 of all things!

Mind you, I'm a Season 8 fan, so I suspect both the sane, sensible die hards AND the loose cannon Replies From View library cowboys would want me to lower self into ground in a ceremony.

I look forward to the Netflix obsessed girl in work finally watching it, and her ilk. Her ilk being normal people who just shovel fucking Netflix into their eyes with zero other methods of obtaining perfect situation comedies (note to self, get her to try People Just Do Nothing)

I like season 8 too. I think the effect of Larry David leaving is greatly exaggerated. Season 7 was already a step down from season 6 in my opinion so I put the decline down to the natural lifespan of a show with 200 episodes.

I do like it but I feel like I might have rinsed every last laugh out of it now after prob watching it between about 6-8 times all the way through, so that's it for me.

When I was an angry teenager who hated school and had no friends, the Paramount Comedy Channel started showing Seinfeld when I got home and it probably saved my life. I'd always loved comedy but it's the show that demonstrated to me you don't have to take anything seriously - and it really lightened me up and changed my attitude. I'm so endlessly grateful that it exists.

Been about two years since a full rewatch, so this will be a great excuse.

I thought this but innocuous semi funny stuff becomes hilarious again after a gap

The latest is when Elaine is explaining her stinky mattress to presumptuous new fella she should've instantly dumped.

"I clam and scallop. I clam and I scallop!"

Just the body language too. Brilliant delivery especially when you consider it's a delivery in-universe of starkly untrue and utter shit, but never focused on it so intensely before. Like when you listen to a song forever, but then something new peeks out between the mountains of familiarity. Struck me new, and that feeling is gold  (Jerry. Gold!)

Reading the book Seinfeldia also helped with a reappreciation, as a Brit it was good to have some of the Noo Yawk references shaded in. My admiration built after I realised just how much real life informed it!

But Elaine clams and she scallops in the East River LOL
