Your favourite pathetic/vile/lowlife comedy characters

Bently Sheds

Pierce Hawthorne in Community. He's a sleazy, self-important, sexist, racist, homophobic git with no redeeming traits. (Admittedly I'm only three quarters of the way through the first series, perhaps he improves later on).

I am also watching this in the knowledge that Chevy Chase who played Pierce was deeply unpleasant towards fellow cast member Donald Glover and this kind of turned me against his character before I even started watching the show.

Icehaven

Melchett is a good one. Actually Blackadder himself probably qualifies too, or is he too anti-hero?

He really shines in season 2, becomes a proper villain and gives some excellent performances. As for behind the scenes, Glover and Chevy seemed to get along well, but Chevy has a habit of saying inappropriate things. It was Chevy and Dan Harmon who had the real issues.

Blue Jam

BoJack Horseman
George Oscar Bluth II
Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman
Tony Smart from Men Behaving Badly
Matt LeBlanc as himself in Episodes
Gene Hunt

Two Will Arnett characters there. It's about the actors more than anything isn't it? Certain actors just specialise in playing charming sleazebags.

Who is the best female equivalent? Fleabag? Yeah, I'm going to piss everyone off and seriously nominate Fleabag here.

Zoidberg.

How about Zapp Brannigan? A character whose lines could all have been spoken by Donald Trump.

peanutbutter

Basically every Phil Hartman character in the Simpsons
...or just Phil Hartman characters in general?

Been absolutely ages, but Chris Elliott in There's Something About Mary was impressively pathetic iirc.

Marsha in Spaced if only for the *pop* waheeey two seconds after being asked to look after a bottle of plonk.

"Anyway kitten, I've got to go and 'ave a lie down, I'm pissed!"

"A bottle of red please"
"How many glasses?"
"One!"

"I was ridin' 'i'm like a bitch from 'ell"

Good one, Marsha is massively underrated.

Blue Jam

Julie from House of Fools.

Also Puppah Pippa Middleton from The Windsors. Again, it's about the actors isn't it?

Brundle-Fly

Ray Purchase is pretty vile but then so is Stephen Toast.

Mrs Purchase too... and on the subjects of Matt Berry and House of Fools, how could I have forgotten Beef Galore?

This thread is wanting to see every actor mentioned in a sitcom called World of Sleaze or something.

The entire cast of Limmy's World of Glasgow, save maybe Jacqueline and Dee Dee, although they both have their moments.

I wish he could've done the clergyman guy on telly. Suppose the stylistic clash meant it'd have been it was either him or Dee Dee

Would Terry Collier count for this one?

He was very selfish

"I'd offer you a beer but I've only got six cans."

Yeah, Will Arnett's great at those sort of characters, and his role in The Increasingly Poor Decisions Of Todd Margaret deserves a place in the list too.

So many of my favourites have been mentioned already. And I too love Marsha from Spaced, I can still remember the red wine quote to this day and the look of incredulity when asked "how many glasses?"

So I'm going to go with Moe and Barney from The Simpsons. Moe in particular has some insight when describing himself.

"Don't treat me like dirt, I'm better than dirt... well, most kinds of dirt"

sponk

Two of the most pathetic vilest lowlife comedy characters ever haven't been mentioned yet... Boris Johnson and Donald Trump!

She's great. Tim saying to Brian "what's the deal with Marsha?" And Brian's haunted reply "...you know about The Deal?"

My favourite Marsha line:

"Just off to Threshers for the weekly shop!"

My favourite Marsha moments are:

The simple 'Hello, Brian'

And the graphic 'I was riding him like a bitch from 'ell'......

Also 'Vino Destructo'.....

Ah, how I love this line.
