That was five minutes in. They're not even pretending anymore.

I see Johnson has a nice soft-focus Kuenssberg interview. I am sure in the next few days Corbyn will have the opportunity to set out his thoughts about taxation and public services without the interviewer getting in the way.

BBC apologises for running three year old footage of Boris Johnson at the cenotaph...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50374630

Why would they do this?

In the 2016 footage, the PM looked relatively smart and respectful, but yesterday he came across as a bored, drunken, scruffy cunt who placed his wreath upside down.

So the BBC showed footage from when he was foreign sec... Three years ago... Before he was PM.... And they showed it in error?

Quote

All too predictable sadly. They've been blatantly co-opted as a governmental propaganda tool for years now. They would've archived that footage ages ago, it wouldn't be lying on a newsroom floor three years later.

Not that anyone would care about Boris turning up looking like a bin man. He could drunkenly spew on the cenotaph and it'd be hailed as an oblique recreation of the horrors of war, meanwhile Corbyn receives three days of relentless media flak for having a speck of dust on his black tie.

Yeah the live coverage on Radio 4 made a point of mentioning that Corbyn made ,,,," a slight nod of the head". No one else's movements were mentioned

Perhaps someone with better Photoshop skills than me could put a nice Ralph Lauren suit on Michael Foot in 1981.

The coverage seems worse now than ever before. Graham Norton a couple of weeks ago showed that picture of Corbyn with his hands together with the shite tabloid "praying for a win" joke. The joke about Johnson, inserted for balance, was about him playing rugby and knocking those kids over years ago. The Corbyn joke tries to make him sound weak and pathetic; the Johnson joke makes him look like a laugh and a nice bloke who loves playing rugby with kids and getting stuck in. It's subtle and it gets around impartiality rules. I've noticed that alot.

The wreath thing is another good example, how it's such a small thing that complaining about it seems to most people like you're coming up with some mad conspiracy theory, but it's death by a thousand cuts they're going for.

Don't usually get involved in politics chat. But was listening to radio 1 at the weekend and they has as their headline on the news the "controversy" over the labour spending targets. Now I'm a leftwing gobshite, who is fully aware that the labour party hasn't released their manifesto, so the numbers the tory cunts are using are pulled out of cummings arse. Which is all kind of fine in a tediously predictable political bantz magic money tree bore fest. But radio 1 I'm sure used the word "controversy" then proceeded to say something on the lines of "The tories have launched and attack on labour saying their pledges will cost 1 trillion quids. Labour have said it won't, here's some tory prick to say why their obvious lie is correct." Then followed a sound bite of some blert repeating the lie from the start of the report. This "report" lasted 20-30 seconds, presumably every hour on the hour for 4-5 hours the rest of the day.

Now this is the depressing thing. I can understand the mail and telegraph and express and other right wing rags smearing labour. I can understand newsnight and andrew neills garbage smearing labour. It really fucked me off that on radio 1 ostensibly a young persons radio station that someone presumably higher up has made the call that that's how we'll cover the news on the channel. No labour voice to come back, just a repeat of the lies that the tories are pumping out.

Ahh too long not really any point but man it annoyed me.

They're doing it using the tabloid tactic of knowing that when they have to apologise for it no one will notice and the damage will already be done. The edit of that wreath video being "a mistake" is the same excuse used for an edit on Newsnight just a few weeks ago where they showed Corbyn responding to the Spring 2016 budget. Funny how they keep having these edit whoopsies with archive footage sneaking in to news broadcasts, and they always benefit the Tories.

The exact same thing happening twice is proof that some cunt is going out of their way to do that; it's not just some opportunistic cutting to maximise the benefit to the Tories, but an effort by a particular person or people to go and dig up archive footage to splice in, thinking the excuse sounds innocent enough and the benefit of the broadcast will far outweigh the subsequent apology. It's real sinister cuntery that I don't remember from the BBC to this level in 2017.

I do feel like it's reasonable to think these could be accidents, I don't want to jump to conclusions and look mad and paranoid, but it's certainly suspicious.

Oh please. Check out this dunce.

Isn't archive footage a whole seperate department? Surely obtaining and inserting this three year old footage into a current news item had to be done consciously? How could it be an accident?

Buelligan

I'd like to know how they could be accidents.  If the replacement footage showed something random and unrelated, it might be plausible but it doesn't, does it?

You're a stupid mad old cunt though, fuck off.

The three year old footage was accidentally removed from the archive and precisely edited to match the shot of him stepping from the line to place the wreath....?

Amazing.

The "6" had come loose and fell upside down in the filename.

My opinion is, I don't know if it is or not because I don't know what the process is for pulling clips for use on the news or how it works at all, but I find it suspicious.

No it happens all the time. I remember watching the tennis last year and suddenly bloody Björn Borg was doing half the rallies!
