What in the name of Christ is going on here?  Could nobody have told him this wasn't a good idea?

Getting serious Simon Groom's attempt a pop career vibes, perhaps he was watching at home in Leicester:

Kasabian have always struck me as a staggeringly uncool bunch of lads.

L-R: Stephen Mangan, Noel Fielding (unshaven), Dermot O' Leary (also forgot to shave), Richard Herring.

That Stephen Mangan lookylikey observation is spot on.

Who the fuck actually *likes* Kasabian ?

purlieu

Fucking hell.
I thought the Little Simz bit was alright, but the Kasabian bloke was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in a long time.

Kasabian just remind me of that awful period of music and culture that was largely the early 00's.

Razorlight, Kasabian, Kaisers Chiefs, Noel Fielding, and countless other post-britpop lads combined with a retro 60's mod hippie aesthetic crowbarred in. The whole thing was just piss weak.

Isn't this Serge chap just ripping off the lead singer of Kasabian crossed with Kanye West? What a basic biiiiitch.

Anyway, not to be too negative, there's always good music happening at any time, I just have a deep seated hatred of this particular period in British culture. The end product was weak, cynical post modernism at best. I'm no Oasis fan, but at least their end product of high quality, more clear cut and defined.

I'm undecided as to which of his performances was superior.  Here is the other one:

That seems worse.  The sub-Gallagher whining and mannerisms I can call out quite confidently.  Frustratingly, I can't tell how embarrassing the earlier linked-to one is; all leaping around doing a braggadocio act to beatz sounds the fucking same to me.  The vox are thin and reedy; that's about as much as I can tell.

A thousand-odd terrible bands with Weller hairdos who will never progress beyond their local pub circuit but have a press release that confidently states they are bringing back the spirit of REAL MUSIC, all citing as their influences Oasis, Stone Roses and Kasabian.

Here be desolation:

I think Mr Kasabian has taken too many drugs or is having an early mid-life crisis or both.

Haha yeah I honestly thought it was him looking a little awkward next to them having presented them with something

I was hoping this would be Kasabian bloke doing a cover of that Spike Milligan sketch / song:

Ha Ha!!!

How old is he man?

That's "Funky Man" level bad:

Edit: 38. He's 38 years old. Ha Ha!!!

jobotic

What a wanker. Kasabian always make me feel really depressed. Like getting a beer festival and seeing it's full of blokes with shoes with no socks and pork pie hats on.

Stoneage Dinosaurs

Jeeeeesus christ.

I didn't think the song was that bad when I heard it in Fopp a few weeks back, but that's probably cause I walked in during the Little Simz bit and I couldn't see the lanky man prancing around like a big tragic sweaty fanny.

I remember a few years back - probably when they were relatively new - Kasabian kicking up a fuss about the fact that they'd failed to break America, saying that it was because they're 'all thirty years behind the times' or words to that effect.

Imagine being so lacking in self-awareness as to be in Kasabian and to tut about other people being behind the times.

Twed

Kasabian's biggest hit sounds like something even Kula Shaker wouldn't have bothered releasing as a b-side.

You enjoyed a beige Minnie Driver gig.

She was remarkably funny and I wasn't there for the music per se. She'd be better fun than you round a dinner table ;)

Fair enough, I'll leave you to your upper middle-class Richard Curtis fantasy.
