I'm going to do it again on PC, but basically just stop progressing as soon as I get the first, or more liikely second, camp, with a view to a modded game.

It does sort of, almost force you along at times. Early on, it takes a while to unlock everything, you have to do missions to unlock guns, hunting, the fence... The first camp is basically a tutorial camp.

My bigger worry is the world changes along with story. If you're ignoring the story, there's still plenty to do, but some events are finite, some only unlock at certain chapters...they make it hard to be static, although with a world like this has, it's still possible.

It's a great game to luxuriate in. The story can be a bit depressing really!

That's what I did on my second playthrough, holding back the story as much as possible whilst I collected every damn ciggy card, dino bone, all the outfits etc. All got a tad compulsive after a while! Loved it though. Wondering if I've a third one in me. Haven't tried going for low honour yet...

Really wish the online mode wasn't so bobbins - it's hard to put my finger on what makes it so, whereas I still play a bit of GTAO nearly every day and love it  (anyone else still on? I nearly posted in the year-old thread about the ok-ish casino update, and the new Peyote plants which transform your character into an animal - apparently these were in the story mode too but I never came across them, even when I did my recent replay). Rambling nonsense, sorry POST

GTAV really was the ultimate example of Too Much Pudding in regards to all the shite they shoved into it that had no bearing on the plot nor any reason for the player to indulge in. It's like dumping a toddler in a fuckoff wave pool and expecting them to learn every tile. I don't give a shit, mate, not arsed at fucking all that you've got all these clever little sidequests where I can go jogging with an insane boomer lady, cunt. It's too fucking big, fuck off!

As opposed to say GTA3 where I'll do every fucking sidebit (even the shit import/export arsestravaganza) just because it's there.

Elderly Sumo Prophecy

I'm not sure if Pudding was a typo and you really meant Padding, or if you really meant Pudding. On reflection, I prefer Pudding.

I really meant Pudding. Pudding is lovely, but it's meant to be in modest servings.

Sweet christ.

Crashes on startup too. As it does for a load of people. Might be due to having AMD hardware, two day one patches in and it's not sorted.

Works gret for me, 7900k, 2080Ti, 32gb ram.

Here's an untouched 4K 60fps High settings image:

Yep. Ryzen 3900x on a new range moboard, with 32gb DDR4 RAM and a graphics card from this year... fuck all.

I've looked about and it seems 90% of the people with the launcher crash error are on some variety of 2019 AMD hardware

So I was thinking of splashing out on this as I'm getting a bit bored of No Mans Sky. Should I save my pennies until they mend it/test it properly ?

This is the third day and it's still fucked. It just applied a 2gb patch and it still won't launch.

I'd wait.

No worries.

Three days and I've done everything I can think of - deleted my profile, reinstalled, updating video drivers, updating Windows 10 bang up to date (which I hate doing) changed drives it's installed on, and Support haven't even replied to my ticket on Tuesday and a perusal of the wretched GTAForums thread on it shows it's happening allllllllll over.

So.... yeah. If I were you I'd wait for Steam, even though that's still gonna funnel it through Rockstar's shitty launcher!

Did you add the game to your firewall exceptions? I heard this solved the problem for many.

I did indeed! I'm an ex IT pro so tried all the obvious stuff. Just waiting on Rockstar to patch it I reckon; my PC is only a couple months auld so some steps like "downgrade the BIOS to a build from 2018" aren't even possible.

Shitty launch. But completed it on PS4 and this is gonna be a mod build, so, I can wait. Bleedin having to aren't I...

Oh and it works now! Loving it all over again. So gorgeous on a top spec machine...

Just in time to leave it. And come back cold later to do the snow level..
