Piece where his heart should be is missing.

The bit the piece of paper in his pocket (?) is on, which is now overbalancing the scales of justice.

Stitched-together version nicked from Reddit (click to enlarge):

Looking happier, more colourful, and more malevolent than ever before. Jimmy is dead, long live Saul?

I have to say that having got up to speed with 'Saul now, I don't get it,

What's the attraction and why have I read some people saying it is better than BB?

I don't get it at all, I've not had any story or character to grasp me in BCS compared to BB.

Inspector Norse

I personally like it a lot more than Breaking Bad. It's not as operatic or exciting but I find it has a lot more humanity and much more believable relationships. I found that Breaking Bad was as frustrating as it was enjoyable, with most of the supporting cast struggling to be anything more than obstacles to Walter's arc. With Saul, you get a better sense of who is who and I actually find Jimmy's story more affecting and his character more real for that reason.

Blue Jam

Much has been written on BCS > BB already, but for me a lot of it is that I simply never found Walter White to be all that sympathetic. I've seen articles saying that on a second watch of BB you'll be surprised to note how much earlier Walt becomes unlikeable, but from the start I found him hard to root for. I never understood the fans who have him down as an anti-hero and think "I am the danger! I am the one that knocks!" is a badass boast you'd want to wear on a t-shirt rather than the deluded rantings of a sad old man who is too full of hubris to realise how utterly out of his depth he is. Also he's pretty rapey from quite early on...

Jimmy is a foil to Walt in many ways and just I've found it easier to root for a character who is trying to overcome obstacles and lack of friends and family in order to "break good" than a character who has a loving and supportive extended family and even some billionaire ex-friends who are prepared to say "no hard feelings" and help him out but instead chooses to "break bad" and put them all in danger.

In general I find the characters in BCS a lot more complex and believable and sympathetic- yes, even Chuck.

Oh look who's back... Very spoilery this so I'll just post a link:

Wish I hadn't seen this, damn. Click if you dare, if not you might want to avoid Twitter for a few weeks.

BCS has been renewed for a sixth and final season

13 episodes apparently, to make a total of 63 episodes, to equal Breaking Bad + El Camino. It should also air in 2021, no delay this time.

Just seen another announcement about a character from BB making an appearance in season 5. Normally they keep things under wraps, why so many teasers this time? I think I'm just going to have to avoid Twitter and lurking on the BCS subreddit for a while.

lankyguy95

Six seasons seems the perfect length to me for this show. Can't wait.

DrGreggles

Is a character from BB being in BCS actually a spoiler though?
We already know that they're set in the same universe, so you can assume that every BB could appear in BCS (as long as the timelines match) without it affecting the story.

Blue Jam

Maybe it's not a spoiler per se, but I had been hoping to see Hank make an appearance and it would have been a nice reveal. Now I'll just be watching S5 waiting for  Hank to inevitably show up.

Yet ANOTHER trailer, lots of Kim in this one:

Looks like this might be the series where they finally break up and I bawl my eyes out.

Blue Jam

Another one:

Oh gawd, that passionless kiss just killed me... just as this endless stream of teasers is killing me...

lankyguy95

Trying to avoid all these teasers. Still almost a month to go.

Blue Jam

Had a microscopy training session at werk yesterday where I was told "Scientists love lasers" for real.

The basic premise of BB may be bollocks but that bit is true.

Blue Jam

After all these teasers the proper trailer is finally out:

Welcome to my world...

Spoiler alert
While Mike falls off the wagon, Kim still can't quite give up the drug that is Slippin' Jimmy

Good to see it's looking as gorgeous as ever too. I predict that this series is going to be even more heartbreaking than the rest.

Puce Moment

Yeah, I know they boil down the most visually interesting moments but I does look like the closer this show gets to the BB timeline, the more it employs interesting/experimental cinematography.

I wonder how far Gilligan is prepared to go with Kim? I predict something

I predict that, of all the

ends Kim could meet, she and Jimmy will just grow apart until their relationship quietly fizzles out. To me that would be more devastating than anything

. Knowing how unpredictable this show is though I'm probably very very wrong.

I love the relationship between Kim and Jimmy for the fact that they're a couple who are also best friends, and I can't think of many other examples of that on screen. Friendship is such an underrated quality in relationships- and that element here will make their inevitable breakup even more heartbreaking. It's going to be like the end of Withnail and I x a million.

Rewatched series 1 if Curb Your Enthusiasm yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see Odenkirk turn up as a porn star called Gil.

Is that the Tabasco sauce anecdote ?

Odenkirk also pops up in that Dolemite film with Eddie Murphy on Netflix, iirc he has a cameo as a sharp-suited agent or A&R man (quelle surprise). It does feel like he's been popping up in everything lately (not that I'm complaining).

Another thing he pops up in and which I can't recommend highly enough is Undone, where he and Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel) play a father and daughter who both may or may not have schizophrenia. It's eight short episodes of rotoscope-animated brilliance from the creators of BoJack Horseman and it's well worth doing the Amazon Prime trial and having a binge-watch while you're waiting for BCS s5 to drop:

Reviews of the first few episodes of S5 are out and they are glowing.

Blue Jam

Jimmy/Saul torn between the law and the criminal underworld. Not the most subtle imagery but it is a great pic and it's making me wish I still had a two-monitor setup so I could use it as my desktop wallpaper.

I do wonder if tearing things up might be a bit of an arc in the series itself- destroying old business cards, old photos, incriminating documents etc.

I see they're still doing the blue = good and red/yellow = criminal colour coding too.

Preview from episode 1- Jimmy changes his name:

https://streamable.com/t5k2i

In the penultimate episode of season 4 there's a scene where Kim is wrapping some gifts for Jimmy, to celebrate him getting his law licence back, and one of them is a briefcase monogrammed "JMM". I always found that detail rather sad, poor Kim.
