Uncredited Chris Morris cameo in This Is England (2006)?

Rewatching this film recently I noticed a few radio broadcasts dotted throughout with the news anchor sounding uncannily Chris Morris-like. A quick scout around google reveals fuck all, confirmation or denial. I'd be half-way convinced by voice alone but this was a Warp Films production, who Morris had quite an association with at the time, directing the first film they produced (My Wrongs); the producer of This Is England Mark Herbert going on to produce Four Lions a few years later.

One example, in On the Hour mode: https://youtu.be/1jW52SIYUCw

Another example, presumably overdubbing a real interviewer interviewing Thatcher, in Feedback Report mode: https://youtu.be/cEfixwslGCI

To add further fuel,  the final episode of the follow-up first TV series This Is England '86 ends with a real news report from the time reported by THE REAL CHRIS MORRIS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Morris_(journalist) - ending on the line : "This is Christopher Morris, for the nine o'clock news.."

See: https://youtu.be/EntI3Sjl2dc

Perhaps picked as a sly reference, an in-joke to Morris's uncredited cameo in the preceding film, which seemingly no one picked up on?

Chris Morris or not Chris Morris, in This England: The Movie? What?!

McChesney Duntz

They do very much sound like him - in fact, I'd say with 99.865% certainty that the second one is definitely CM. Nice catch.

After some further detective work, I've just near enough confirmed this must be Morris....

Here is a transcript of the Thatcher interview used in the This Is England, her words to a t: https://www.margaretthatcher.org/document/105229

Here's ITN  news reporter David Walter in action who is credited as interviewing her here, who sounds absolutely nothing like Morris, as opposed to how he sounds in This England, where he sounds exactly like Morris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJTlpUgOVuU

As suspected, Morris overdubbed Watler's side of the interview there, for a bit of a laugh with Warp Films. Well that's that sorted then. Any other undiscovered, uncredited Morris cameos out there? Or ghost writing skulduggery?

I agree it sounds like Chris, and it probably is.

Licensing archive and media clips for use in films can be very expensive and eats into a tight budget, so it's quite likely that they re-recorded the reports to avoid the expenditure.

Chris's study of the cadences of 1980s reporting and his ability to mimic them would make him an ideal choice to re-record them. And as you suggest, his connection to Warp Films would make him only a phonecall away.

Good spot.

Did you seriously copy-and-paste your name from Dennis Nilsen's wikipedia page, ha ha?

QuoteDennis Andrew Nilsen was born on 23 November 1945 in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, the second of three children born to Elizabeth Duthie Whyte, and Olav Magnus Moksheim (who had adopted the surname Nilsen). His father was a Norwegian soldier who had travelled to Scotland in 1940 as part of the Free Norwegian Forces, following the German occupation of Norway. After a brief courtship, he married Elizabeth Whyte in May 1942 and the newlyweds moved into her parents' house.

Anyway, great stuff. I wonder if there are other uncredited cameos in the Warp filmography.

Tried googling this, didn't find anything, apart from the original title was "Oi! This Is England":

Condolences if he is.

No father should outlive his son.
