Technically it's a cover of a Sutherland Brothers song, the original was slightly more subtle but I think this version manages to retain the raw emotion while appealing to populist sensibilites and is just on the right side of sentimental. People may, possibly rightly, think it's a bit too broad, but I think it's pitched perfectly. Life has been hard, things are getting worse, but I can't imagine that dampening our appreciation for such a tune.
