"Gift" as a verb

Really annoys me. I know it exists, especially in the form "To endow, esp with any power or faculty" but it's used all the time now to mean "give someone a gift".
"I gifted you this fucking hat," for example.
Common in Scotland apparently.

I've never used it. The only i have is to gift someone an amazon gift card.

Making a giftain out of a gifthill i think.

Of course I am. I do that about almost everything that annoys me.

In German and Scandinavian "gift" means poison. Maybe you could take some comfort from that.

I've had better Secret Santas tbh.

I know someone called Gift. Just throwing proper noun into the mix here.

Noddy Tomkey

Yeah hate hate hate it what do we do now?

Uncle TechTip

It seems more succinct than "I gave you a fucking hat. As a present".

Ray Travez

I've got a few hats, but no-one's bought me a fucking hat yet. Might look on amazon.

Boy's name or girl's name?  I've heard the name Git before (birth name, not nickname).

How about visiting 'with'? You're visiting a person, but you're somehow visiting 'with' them?

I don't understand!

It SPEAKS TO the paradox of showing sincere affection via the mores of a material world.

My least favourite expression ever. I would take any number of smol bois over anything SPEAKING TO any other thing.

This is performative visiting. You don't just arrive and spend time with them, you make sure the media is informed to see your arm-touching and air kisses, or at least there's a good chunk of Instagram-worthy content generated.

Very old usage of the word gift, dates back to 17th century.

GET USED TO IT.

How does this apply to the spectral realm though? Visited by a ghost. Visitation. I don't think ghosts plan visits do they? They're the type of prick that assumes everyone has as much free time as you do. Yeah just thought I'd visit you and tell you that your future might not be aaaaalllll it's cracked up to be, well you can FUCK OFF I'm doing a crossword. Visitate some other cunt with nothing better to do.

Captain Z

It's the give that keeps on gifting.
