Got another track up here. More boom bap instrumental hip hop, this one sampling a bright and cheerful South African jazz-funk tune.

Cartoon Violence

Having not made any music for years, I'm really enjoying throwing this stuff together, as the simplicity of it coupled with the fun of rummaging about in obscure music for some juicy nuggets is a really refreshing reintroduction to the craft.

I'm always hideously nervous about sharing anything outside of my immediate friend group, but I worked rather hard on this recently and it's the nicest thing if it makes someone happy. Big droney evolving thing with double bass and synthesisers. Fans of stuff like GAS or Stars of the Lid or idk... that kind of thing.

I like "Silhouettes" very much too. It goes straight to the heart.

I've been faffing with this for a couple of days - and I'm an atrocious singer - but what do you reckon to this?

Bit of a Lawrence feel on that vocal MiddleRabbit. Which is a good thing.

I'm really going for that music-about-architecture niche market these days. Burgeoning it is!

This time a celebration of Arlington House, a brutalist joy in Margate on the Kent coast . Built in 1964 it's known locally as the Wave.

Is that the same  'Arlington House' as was referenced in Madness's One Better Day?  You've got nice sounding synths there, not a million miles from Jon Brooks/Ghost Box sort of thing.  Nicely done.

Thanks. It's a different Arlington House. The Nutty boys sing about one just down the road from the Good Mixer in Camden.

I'd also like to express my fondness for that particular tune.

Is it considered spam to link to bandcamp?... Given that you can listen for free?.... asking for a friend.

Thanks for your words of appreciation.

Personally I'm happy just sticking to providing the actual music to listen to here (as and when I finish tracks), I've no desire to go beyond that on the board, thanks.

When I was at school and we used to get the train to Bemboms/Dreamland I used to find that building rather terrifying. We went in a scary LoG style joke shop just near it which didn't help.

Now I realise it really is quite beautiful.

I got asked to record a Velvet Underground song for this charity compilation

https://coronaunderground.bandcamp.com/album/the-corona-underground-vol-1

So I did "Friends" from "Squeeze" because I'm that guy. There's some amazing versions on that and the second volume including Martin Carr's weird mash-up version of "White Light/White Heat"

new one from me called Love Song, perhaps a bit too obviously inspired by James Ferraro's Human Story 3 and Prefab Sprout's I Trawl The Megahertz

Got into doing songs again cause of lockdown. Jangly guitarry jazzy-ish piano politics thing. Soz about the production, I'm a tad crap at doing it

That's excellent ALW, love it.

I forget about my soundcloud, there's a mixed bag of shite from over the years there. I always liked this load of old kraut from my old band Firestone circa 2000 - https://soundcloud.com/rileybriggs/04-abakus

I really like this.

I'm having a good time listening to it. Yes, beer is involved, but that's no bad thing. It's got a lovely ambience to it.

Yes. I like this.

Echoes of Stars in Battledress and dare I say it, Bill Drake's Super Altar which are a plus.

Hi all - this is my first post and I am aware that my first also being shameless self promotion is not a good look but I will work at becoming more engaged with the community - if you'll have me!

Anyway, this was my first song and it was released on Spotify in June. I'd appreciate any feedback. There is another song on there and another to be released on August 1st.

Oh Boy!

... Sorta 90s brit pop indie vibes, I guess. I'm not normally so keen on that style, but this went in that direction and I just went with it, I think.
