A YouTube celebrity, but someone I really liked and had kept up with over the past decade -- Steve Cash, who did all of the very funny 'Talking Kitty' videos, took his own life back in April.

I just found out this morning, thinking, 'I wonder if he's updated during the lockdown.'

I've been feeling awful about it since. He'd been open about his struggle with bi-polar issues. Fuck 2020.

Comparing the sort of OK slant of the original 1973 CDB Uneasy Rider v. the reactionary, homophobic Uneasy Rider '88 is kind of grim.

A death announced 2 weeks ago, but happened a long time before that.

When I was a young and discovering the world of indie music, the Shop Assistants were a band I took an interest in and I took a particular interest in their singer Alex Taylor.

Not long after their one and only album came out (which I still like), she left that band to form The Motorcycle Boy who released a few singles and then disappeared.

They did though record an album which only came late last years when the guitarist bought the masters and released it himself. He did some interviews at the time saying he didn't have a clue where Alex was now but was hoping with the album coming out she would get in touch.

It was her husband who got in touch with that guitarist, And he revealed that she died back in 2005. She had a heart condition which led to a heart attack and she died a few days later.

It kind of beggars belief that that information could take so long to make its way to public consciousness. Especially as a lot of the people and bands in the indie scene back then are still active in music -  that through word of mouth that her passing would filter through to them at some point. But no, it seemed no one who had dealings with either of her two bands knew about her passing until 2 weeks ago, 15 years after the event.

Anyway, here's my favourite shop Assistants song. A cover version, but a very good one none the less

Fucking Hell, That's awful news ( 15 years later). I knew before clicking onto that link it was going to be the Shoppies' versh of " Train From Kansas City" ( well, it was either going to be that, or their versh of " What A Way To Die", or possibly " Ace Of Spades", but I don't think that got an official studio- recorded release).

Was quite big on Shop Assistants back in the day. Got their singles and debut( only ) album ( well, havenae got their very first single from when they were Bubba And The Shop Assistants, but got the rest). My mate rated them so precious, he dropped out of uni to go and roadie for them ( think he was in an embryonic version of The Motorcycle Boy , too). I remember really enjoying their performance when they supported The Jesus And Mary Chain back in the day ( not so much that I would decide to give myself the CaB name Lisa Shopassistants 26 years later, but still...)

What a way to die, indeed. I don't need to wish she knew somebody cared, because she probably did. Sheesh.

My ex watched it so I'm aware who she is, yeah her son won't forget this.

Cerys

Especially if it's his fault that she went overboard.

I watched it from start to finish and she was easily the best thing in the show.

God knows what this will do to her poor son in years to come.

Dex Sawash

Have they talked to Robert Wagner about this?

Do Scientologists really die, or do their souls get collected again at the base of a volcano to be nuked?

I remember him from " Tutti Frutti". He was a grand old actor, sad to see him go.

Bad Ambassador

One of the most eclectic CVs of any actor. Appearances in Rumpole and Baywatch less than a year apart.

Alberon

Superb in both. Always hoped he would have shown up in TNG again.

Shame. A fine, fine actor. Just watching the intensity of his performances in Caves Of Androzani, it struck he he would have made an excellent JNT-era Master.

Oh dear. Wonder if he regrets not wearing a mask to Trump's Tulsa rally a few weeks ago?

Alberon

Probably not.

Because he's dead.
