I read it all - every word - and I have to say it was pish to the very last letter. A remarkable achievement writing so many sentences with none of them the least bit interesting, bravo.

Must say, I'm delighted to have wasted both your time (and mine into the bargain). Really cheered me up!

You've reminded me that in about 2004 I was listening to the song "Southpaw" by Japanese group Pink Lady and in the lyrics they mention "Harry Kane" and because the music video featured baseball-related imagery I assumed maybe he was a famous baseball player, but a Google turned up zilch, because Harry Kane wasn't a thing yet.  Fast forward to a couple of years ago and I'm listening to the song and the penny drops... it's "hurricane".

What til you hear how The Scorpions feel about hard rockin pizza magnate Herman Kane

You didn't waste my time. As an OFCAB inspector I'm paid to investigate these things and report them to them standards board, so your shite has just paid for my Christmas bonus, and it's probably going to be three figures this year.

The teams are side-by-side on University Challenge. No matter how many episodes I watch, my brain still occasionally sees one team as above the other.

can't be long until they use vfx to make it look like they're side by side in the wide shots and have the set to physically put them the proper way

Around 2001 - the larger jukebox operators were replacing their last 7" jukeboxes with CD-based machines in 2000. The number of 7" jukebox-specific releases began to tail of dramatically by 1998. The 7" single as a retail format fell out of favour in late 1994 due to declining sales and changes to chart eligibility rules, so from 1995 onwards 7" releases were usially only pressed specifically for jukebox operators.

Been thinking about the quality of these... I don't doubt the music industry would happily press stuff for old machines so long as the money's there, but at that point in time there can't have been much demand for 7"s and vinyl plants and mastering houses would've been busy with dance because it largely predated cdj's/dvs.

Basically, were they really half-arsed, rushed through the mastering plant stuff?

The song My Way is being sung by someone who's dying. "And now, the end is near, and so I face, the final curtain..."

Or by an actor with a disregard for directorial authority.

Didn't the fact that it's a funeral favourite tip you off?

It would be nice if they just stopped singing the fucking thing and died already.

Whenever I hear that song I can't help imagining all the little quirks of the Sid Vicious version.

Brian Lara is not British.

I just assumed anyone called Brian would have to be British.

Living Doll, too, now you mention it.

Can't hear

"I'm gonna lock her up in a trunk
so no big hunk
can steal her away from me"

without adding "get down" at the end.

All books for kids under 5 end with the protagonist going to bed because you read them to kids at bedtime. Took me far too long to clock that.

Isn't it just because they are so fucking lazy?  The protagonists, I mean, not your darling children.

Sebastian Cobb

If anything it's the authors that are the lazy ones.

Both the protagonists and the children?  I would not like to inflame a doting father.

Ferris' kids are the worst. Somehow more awful than the man himself, if you can believe it.

Rugby is a tougher game than I thought. Some French player has just topped himself having formerly being considered a top scorer, and his career tally of tries was 25.
