How many spoof 'stage psychic' comedy acts are there?

Clinton Baptiste
Shirley Ghostman
Ian D Montfort

Any others?

What differentiates them?

Dewt

I don't know but I keep hearing "Anna Mann"'s podcast being advertised and I would be that the person behind it has gravitated towards that mediocrity

Absolutely no evidence, I just bet it.

Captain Z

None of them can really tell jokes, it's just an act.

Would you count Raymond Day (Limmy)?

NoSleep

Who of them can come close to "Mary loves Dick"?

Clinton Baptiste is a straight-up piss-take of Derek Acorah with lots of gags. Saw him live a few months ago and it was very funny although there might be a bit of frantic rewriting going on at the moment.

Ian D Montfort actually employs some of the techniques used by mediums (i.e. basic magic tricks) so is closer to seeing a spoof of a 'real' psychic show. Saw him live a few years ago and he was very good as well.

Fading now.

Was Clinton Baptiste arguably the first of these?

I like Alex Lowe a lot, I was just rewatching Big Field with him as Paxman in University Challenge

Alex Lowe is great, an underrated talent. He's very active posting his stuff on youtube and recommend listening to his out of character interview on Three Counties Radio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3cscgZUWYg

It's a Desert Island Discs rip-off but interesting to hear him talk about his career and his approach to stand-up.

I'd recommend the Clinton Baptiste podcast, too.

The Peter Serafinowicz Christmas Show (2008) had a running psychic medium comedy character. The first sketch at 9:20 mark

Copycats! On YouTube, there's a 1906 British short film comedy called The Medium Exposed, aka Is Spiritualism a Fraud?.

Never see much love for Raymond Day from Limmy fans, he's one of my favourite recurring characters. A live version could be great

Captain Crunch

Ash Pryce doesn't market himself as a comedy act, more of a historic debunk spectacle thing but with a fair amount of humour:

I gave it a couple of episodes and I thought it was awful. Horses for courses and all that.

Sebastian Cobb

I can't help feeling all I need to see of Baptiste was in the Phoenix nights, and any more would just be spreading that titan thinner.

Tony Yeboah

Tom Binns, having performed his 'Psychic' Character Ian D Montfort, claims to have discovered a genuine 'psychic' ability and now performs as The 'Psychic' Comedium.

it's that Xander voice off of the podcasts that does it for me. Such a perfect voice for that sort of cunty character

Yes, he's excellent. I suppose he's a spoof of no particular medium but he always reminded me of Colin Fry.

Edit: Actually, the 'I'll leave his/her love with you' catchphrase suggests it is a spoof of Colin Fry after all.

"World of the Strange" Trevor and Simon live. A lot of kids present, natch.
A telepathy demonstration
(to 12 year old boy)

"the human mind is a very powerful organ.....I am going to probe you with my powerful organ..."

What became of them?

privatefriend

Kate Berlant is a newer act that does this, but in a creative and non-hacky way.
