Where does the panel stand about this comedian's rant/ plea? A staunch socialist BTW.  I don't have his WC credentials or entirely acquiesce but yet, grist to the mill?

He knows how to build a straw man.

Wet Blanket

It annoys me, as a working class sort, when being ignorant is presented as some sort of integral working class attribute. For every working class stick in the mud who'll get the hump 'because you see a woman when I see a man' (for example) there'll be another who is not mortally affronted by this. There's fucking shitloads of working class people covering the whole political spectrum, just as there are plenty of middle class London ra-ras mad for Brexit. You can still buy the Guardian in northern newsagents.

How many threads are you going to post this in, with identical wording?

Two. I was pissed last night. Sorry.

Cuellar

They should apologise, yes. To me, one by one.

One of his recent videos suggests that he voted Conservative in the last election?

i really hated that call to arms bloke Kate Tempest shite

His idea of everyone coming together and healing the divide is getting so steamed up you vote tory because you think that Labour are too smug and metropolitan, truly an amazing flex. his twitter confirms that he voted tory, like a true socialist

I don't know MV. I saw his show 'Forgiveness' in Edinburgh last year and thought it was very good. I don't agree with everything he says but like the spirit and he made me laugh. I was just curious about what CaB would make of his take.

It's as good a reason as any to vote Conservative

It wouldn't make me vote Conservative but then I am part of the metropolitan liberal elite. Apparently.

I'm grateful to Brundle-Fly for posting it (even if this thread's not a great fit).

Something interesting in the eliding of socialist concerns with a general class- and geographical anti-elitism, and that in turn with anti-anti-racism. About keeping the framework of an identity in place while reworking some of the foundations.

Thanks Z. Do see what you mean about posting this in the wrong thread. I wasn't trying to goad anybody by posting this clip. I think it's vital you hear all the voices otherwise it just becomes the old echo chamber cliche.

Fuck racism btw

I think it's true that whenever debates are had about disadvantage that class is often entirely omitted, yet class is the greatest predictor of success in life. Possibly because the more prominent rights movements ultimately still want to play within the rules of the game - women, for example, want to be able to participate equally in the world of work, though this doesn't challenge the problems inherent within society with respect to class. Equally, it's quite lazy and the guy's pandering to a particular audience, and misunderstands the idea of privilege.

I try not to do serious topics, and this kind of topic is presumably already done to death in the politics threads.

appears on RT too, proper unwitting idiot for Putin, unless there's a platform for loads of other comedians with under 2k follows to spout off.

Lisa Jesusandmarychain

Is he really a comedian? Didn't seem very funny in that video. Very dour and serious- like.

Class is the greatest predictor of financial success, but people don't generally go round murdering other people because of their class, whereas they do because of other factors like race, religion, gender, sexuality.
