I'd like to do a playlist of good instrumentals that are well known.
Without lyrics to search though, if you don't know who does them they are hard to find.
Can anyone help with a list of great or well known pop/rock instrumentals?
For starters:
Song For The Common Man- ELP
Going Home- Knopfler
Contusion- Stevie Wonder
Hand In Hand- Phil Collins
The Brazilian- Genesis
Love's Theme- Love Unlimited Orchestra
Breezin'- George Benson
Song For Guy- Elton John

The Shadows - Apache, Wonderful Land, FBI, etc.
The Tornadoes - Telstar
Simple Minds - Theme for Great Cities
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (if you want side-long), In Dulci Jubilo (if you want Christmas), Portsmouth, Taurus 3
Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene IV

The Gonk by Herbert Chappell

Wring That Neck - Deep Purple

Which got "borrowed" by It's A Beautiful Day (the two bands toured together in the States):

Don And Dewey - It's A Beautiful Day (titled after Don 'Sugarcane" Harris' group of the 50's)

So Deep Purple "borrowed" this back in return (see if you recognise what they used from it):

Bombay Calling - It's A Beautiful Day

What gentlemen they were with their actually-creative copyright to-and-fro-ings back in the day.

Yes!   There's this lovely version from the 'Precious Falling' album as well.

Maybe my favourite Quickspace track that. Gorgeous.

Not exactly well known though!

You Can't Even Walk In The Park - Johnny Pate from the soundtrack of Shaft In Africa.

And Johnny Pate is the musical director on the Superfly soundtrack:

Think - Curtis Mayfield

Two soundtracks that have way outlasted the films they came from.

And yet the most talked about in this thread.

Bennett Brauer

Popcorn, obviously.

I think the 1969 original https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWbR4kweaFk#t=9m57s would be a better choice than the well known Hot Butter version.
