If I understand correctly, album sales are mostly down unless you're someone like Taylor Swift. I think there is something of a resurgence in album sales thanks to vinyl but for the most part, it's all about streaming numbers now.

Streams, playlist spots and singles are big game now. At least, that's what I think is going on.

Mostly, artists make their money from touring. Unless you're Laurence Fox who owns a piece of the entire pie... yet somehow makes no money.
