come chat with us.

I had http://s1.myradiostream.com:34552/listen.m3u running in VLC. Sounded good.

Just wanted to say I listened last night and really enjoyed it thanks. Always a bit too shy to go in the chatrooms - same with (spam).

The link that worked for me was:

http://s1.myradiostream.com:34552/stream (or streams or streaming) - might be a known thing but I am not good with these things despite "doing something with computers"  for a living.

Will keep an eye out for more.

Yeh, that's the actual address of the stream that is embedded in the .pls and .m3u files which can be downloaded and used to launch various player apps.

Do please say hello in the chatroom as it's feedback for whoever's casting. Something said in the chatroom can often change the course of the show.

Ah yea - I get it now. My browser just kept downloading the listen.xxx so I went into the browser until I got a useable url and then got there. Makes sense now. I also can't help if anyone asks about their printer.

OK - I will say hello next time. I realised I hardly ever listen to anything that's not a podcast these days.

Cheers, glad to know you enjoyed it, despite the slipshod approach (we at least figured out the correct ducking settings halfway through).

What time are you on?

Tonight it's a pre-recorded mix of mine at 9pm for 2 hours, but after tonight once I've sorted out my set-up I'll be looking to host (hopefully live) on a different evening. One of my moody Grim Word mixes this evening, but I can confirm the tone will be lighter for future shows - a lot has happened since we last heard from Lord Bragg...

Tonight at 9PM

dr_christian_troy presents:

I might go on after The Grim Word has finished if I'm not feeling too tired.

NoSleep

Starting in about 10 minutes with some intro music.

The Grim Word will commence at 9.00PM

We're running. One hour too early... see you in an hour. Well, that was a good dress rehearsal. Looks like everything is working (apart from my sense of time).

Really enjoyed that mix dr_christian_troy. Have you got a playlist you could post? A few things I'd like to listen to again.

Thank you for listening! No probs, I'll put the playlist together and post in the weekend asap.

Top stuff, DCT. Ta.

Malcy

I'm hopefully going to get my shit together in the next few days and try put a show together but just wondering what length are we going for?

NoSleep

I'd say at least an hour but there is no hard and fast rules; two hours is good (can build a bit of momentum with people joining late). Remember that TV and Radio usually comes in the half hour, hour, 45 minute blocks so that one block can easily be replaced by another without changing the rest of the schedule. There's no such restriction on you if you come to a natural conclusion at 2h 13min.

Hey Petey.... anything happening tonight?

NoSleep

Petey says he'll be on at 9 tonight (and will probably make that his regular start time rather than 8).

Just to confirm this from the horse's mouth - I will be starting at 9.

I've found another app that may be of use to others, albeit a bit primitive.

It's called butt (Broadcast Using This Tool) and all it does (by default) is capture the output audio of your computer. So if you play a tune as you would if you were listening to it yourself, it will send it to the server. If you want to talk in between tracks you will need to set up something that allows you to hear the mic from your computer (say, monitor it via REAPER or Audacity). Couldn't be more basic if you tried.

It's available for Windows, OS X & Linux: https://sourceforge.net/projects/butt/

Ah right, is that what it does then? I'd heard of it but was always misled by this:

Quote from: http://danielnoethen.de/butt/manual.htmlThe main purpose of butt is to stream live audio data from your computers Mic or Line input to an Shoutcast or Icecast server

which made it sound like it only deals with the physical inputs to your soundcard.

NoSleep

Maybe you're right; let me try.

EDIT: Yes, you're right (damn). Perfect if you want to DJ with decks and mixer (plus mic) into your audio interface. I had assumed the selection for "left" and "right" were for outputs not inputs (like Audio Hijack).

dr_christian_troy

Although I'm still sorting out my set-up for a regular show, I do still have three other volumes of my recent Grim Word Variations. So although this may be a bit short notice, I thought I may ask:
- is anyone doing a show this evening?
- if not, would anyone be up for listening to another one of my mixes?
- and if so, NoSleep would you be up for hosting the mix again at all please?

No worries at all if any of the above is a no-go.

NoSleep

Send it to me and I'll put it up at 9.

dr_christian_troy

Thank you very much! I'll send a link over via PM asap.
