Assuming your housemate was gay, you managed to successfully identify two out of three lesbians, so your gaydar seems pretty sound to me.

I don't think gaydars are supposed to pinpoint who is going out with who, unless they've recently released a Mark II Gaydar (in which case, I know what to put on my Amazon wishlist).

I've always thought his accent sounded Scottish in a middle class kind of way, not broad Glaswegian  or owt like that. Other folk on 'ere think that, Shirley?

Richard Wilson has a kind of old-fashioned posh west of Scotland accent of a type which was more common in more snobbish times - probably altered a bit further by spending a lot of time in England and mingling with ac-tors. A few English-style vowel sounds and softened consonants but basically a Scots accent.

Gordon Ramsay, on the other hand, just speaks with an English accent, having apparently moved south at the age of 5.
