One of my favourite videos on Youtube, one I have returned to many times over the years.

Merzbow live in Korea, 1991

From the opening "bit of wood and metal bucket being used to open the gates of hades in front of some confused middle aged korean women" to the massive mold and water-damaged deserted cavern that is being fucked into pieces by the sound of a billion flushing angry toilets.

Love it. Could watch an hour of this.

A teenage YamatakA Eye throwing panes of glass and metal pipes around. FEEL IT

Hanatarash Live 1988

Unfortunately not featuring the gig where he almost cut his leg off with a circular saw he was "playing", or the gig where he destroyed the club they were booked into with a back hoe.

Chriddof

There's also this "reunion" Hanatarash gig from 1996, which is a favourite of mine:

As I understand, that was the entire performance.

Although there are some pictures here of what must have been a fun evening out somewhere in Tokyo in the mid 80s

This other Hanatarash one-off concert is perhaps better fitted to the thread.

A much longer performance at 50 seconds, this time.

Love how embarrassed and awkward the audience looks.

Thread needs some Gerogerigegege, wish there were more of these fuckers on vid, i mean we've all seen that one with the fat japanese man with his dick in a hoover.

CCCC and Hijokaiden live on some Italian music show in the 90s. Truly hat- fuckening. I mean... how? Who? Is this like GG Allin being on Pebble Mill?

Sin Agog

I'm sure I've posted this many a time, but it's the aforementioned Hijokaiden's collab with idol group subversives Bis whilst covering the immortal Jun Togawa who they later did a great mini-album with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjVT-jsiPnw

Comparatively tame, but I wouldn't have minded seeing China's answer to the Rallizes, Li Jianhong, live from the Great Wall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-fW4WcxupY

It's not so much the performance itself but the slickness of the camerawork and venue of this Lasse Marhaug performance is quite amusing.

Dutch maniacs Fckn Bstrds always put on a good show, here's a clip but there's plenty of others that'll give you an idea. They're always polite enough to clean up avalanche of trash they leave behind after the performances which as someone who has put them on I'm grateful for.

This Smell & Quim set was notorious enough to make into the talk of my playground at school, before I was much aware of this kind of music.

Solmania does a good job of terrifying his poor cat here.

Crank Sturgeon is a terrific entertainer, as is fellow Maine freak I Dm Theft Able (performing outside his place of work here).

Incapacitants performing at a mountain seems somehow a perfect venue for them.

Here's a full hour of magnificent Emil Beaulieau performances, I've been lucky enough to see most of the aforementioned acts live but didn't get to catch him before he retired unfortunately. A true showman.

I'll try and post more of these if any come to mind, I used to watch stuff like this constantly.

Gregory Torso

GREAT post, prwc. Will explore and report back later.

strange lady pissing on stage during a Hijokaidan concert

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brPzGMDfMgk

The music on that video's pretty decent, did they really need that lady micturating on stage, and getting up to all sorts? I hope she had a nice  hot shower afterwards. I like how the video shows people literally * running away* as she heads into the audience.

Here's some sort of Japanese TV interview / news item on the aforementioned Gerogerigegege, from 1990. Features guest vocals(?) throughout from a mad bald yelling bloke who was apparently a wrestler and also played one of the baddies on Takeshi's Castle. Also contains surprise (and unexplained) appearance at 1:16 of that deranged cannibal man who ate a woman. On a much lighter note, Juntaro Yamanouchi (the frontman) is wearing a Moomins T-shirt.

jesus christ this is everything I could have wished for from this thead

Really love that Incapacitants clip too

Glad you enjoyed it!

Masonna, perhaps an obvious one but with good reason. I think he's had to mostly wind down with live sets as they've understandably taking a toll on his ageing body.

My good friend Yol doing an intense set with ultra minimal means.

Heres an early Boredoms video, effortless non-boring, despite their early mission statement, I wish I was of this, in this, part of this

PlanktonSideburns

Early, long con attempt at trying to get this sory of thing going in the UK

Usually associate Suishou No Fune with the more beautiful, spectral side of Noise Rock (especially on the gorgeous Prayer For Chibi- a double-album devoted to their dead mog), but this is them going absolutely apoplectic in a fleapit (always the best places to expose oneself to such sounds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eafpYN1pnzc

Dewt

I'm actually disappointed that live Merzbow is just Stomp.
