I was wondering about the disparity in scorn rather than Starmer receiving criticism. I class myself as a left-wing type, by the way.

I guess because Nandy and her supporters haven't positioned her as the great white socialist hope?

NoSleep

Plus; all of the people who vote for Nandy first will vote Starmer second (maybe a few will notice that Starmer is a man and vote for RLB second). It simply means that RLB will have to win in the first round.

Being a socialist is the polar opposite of being a member of the Trilateral Commission. You don't have to dig very deep to see it's a sham.

Quite. And yet his 'butter-wouldn't-melt' supporters shrug it off and start another round of
"I cannot understand what people have against him?"

I don't think anyone's worried about Nandy winning. Starmer seems to have convinced people who should know better that everything will be "alright"[nb]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROKXlvYMKQc[/nb] if you vote for him.

Exactly as it appeared in the segue from Revolution 1 into Revolution 9.

He is so fucking tedious. Here he is doing a stand-up routine. Christ alive.

Haha yeah he's not exactly Mr Magnetic is he although as the boards stated Starmer voter I am obliged to point out that I don't think you could accuse any of the candidates of an excess of that really.

NoSleep

The answer is not Sir Keir Starmer

QuoteA Starmer Labour Party would be a massive backward step. He would not be the keeper of the torch that Corbyn has lit and neither would he be the answer to our electoral problems — rather, just a desperate reaction to them.

Ok, glad that's sorted. Vote for RLB.

Is Pupkin what they call Lemsip Opic now?  What he ended up doing with one of the pussy cat dolls is between him and their entourage.

comedy gold! his delivery is even worse than Ted Cruz's

waiting for the next fuckwit to call him 'charismatic'

Replies From View

It doesn't do him any favours to have Simon Cowell's voice, either.

Armin Meiwes

Honestly never heard ANYONE (that's heard him speak) call him charismatic.

I worry he is a frot golem whose frot mechanism has done a bumdozy.

Corbyn wasn't exactly overflowing with charisma either, to be completely fair. It was more about his principles than his soaring rhetoric.

Appearing to genuinely give a flying fuck about people is as charismatic as I need.

That Starmer routine: it was a bit self-centred, wasn't it? A bit 'I've got mine; you little people can find another hotel.'

NoSleep

Who's "they"?

Was Corbyn no good, then? Should it have been Starmer (or his preferences, Andy Burnham & Owen Smith) from the off? I for one would not be a member of the Labour Party if either of those had happened. And I would expect Starmer will reverse all that has occurred that made Labour a genuine alternative. Remember when the only person speaking on our behalf was Russell "What's the point of voting?" Brand?

He was capable of being inspirational though. Everything I've heard from Starmzy has been the usual hollow doublespeak that sounds nice but means nothing.

Johnny Yesno

I know Novara are unashamedly left wing but this analysis seems pretty fair:

It took a year for Ed Miliband to pluck up the courage to oppose the bedroom tax. I seriously don't think Starmer is stupid enough to go back to that.

I think he knows that post-2010, the centre left has been failing and that Labour needs to inspire people with big ideas. But the manifesto can't be overloaded either.

He's clearly well behind RLB and Nandy in terms of being an interesting, powerful speaker. What he does seem to be able to do is choose his words carefully and stay out of trouble

Yes, boringness is a double-edged sword. You don't inspire love but crucially nobody can quite bother their arse to hate you either.
