Don't really care if people want to slag Corbyn off whatever, that's up to them, but "I resonate more with people in the country than Corbyn" ummmm wtf?!?

pigamus

Fucking hell.

I'm sorry for the misogynist language but what a stupid fucking cunt.

pigamus

Hey Buelligan, remember your theory about how some of us have only latched on to Rayner because she's now thin and hot, well looks like it's SUPER GLOAT I TOLD YOU SO TIME

bgmnts

Remember all those thousands of people gathering to listen to Angela Rayner speak?

bgmnts

QuoteShe said Corbyn was not weak on security but he had "a more international view of things, whereas I'm more nationalist".

pigamus

I'm glad I don't know Richard Burgon in real life because my God I would have to eat some serious shit over the next 24 hours.

What does this mean?

idunnosomename

i did kinda like rayner and burgon gets so much shit from hooray henry types who think he's a dumbass but i'm now thinking he'll make the best complement to bong daily

if you read the garun article the emphasis is a little bit misleading (HEAVEN FORBID) but still, not great. but also shes not running for leader and deputy is hardly an avenue into it atm

oh god i dont know. i dont know anything. i just want this nightmare to end

What does this mean?

It means I've shared in the tendency to praise her and sneer at him.

This was perhaps... unwise.

But if you knew him in real life...?  I just couldn't follow that train of thought.  I'm feeling stupid for not getting it.

Just to get on the same page here, are most people voting RLB for leader and Burgon for deputy?  What about other preferences if either of them are knocked out?

My MP, Rachel Reeves, is currently tweeting approvingly about Nancy Astor. Again.

Her thread has been retweeted approvingly by Laura Kuenssberg.

No mention of Astor's virulent antisemitism anywhere, mind.

So, I found the retweet:

Couple of interesting replies in there mentioning two lefty women who spoke in the HoC before Astor:

Tony Greenstein: Keir Starmer is the candidate that the Deep State & the British Establishment want you to vote for
http://azvsas.blogspot.com/2020/02/keir-starmer-is-candidate-that-deep.html

Interesting:

QuoteActivists in his Holborn and St. Pancras constituency have spoken out in a letter  to the Camden New Journal. Over 30 Labour Party members, including Stephen Kapos, a child survivor of the Hungarian Holocaust and the Budapest Ghetto and anti-racist campaigners Amanda Sebestyen and Jewish Socialist Group member Ruth Appleton wrote that:

"Time and time again, as left-leaning members we have been subjected to hostility and abuse... Those that are close to Keir Starmer, rather than welcome involvement from the left, have actively prevented it....
Keir Starmer presides over a constituency Labour Party which contains only officers with a history of outright opposition to Jeremy Corbyn. As left-leaning party members we have been completely marginalised by the right in the local party who support Keir Starmer.
Claiming to be the unity candidate should be more than a catchy campaign slogan. We are gravely concerned that under a Keir Starmer leadership all socialists in the party will be treated as we have been.
Therefore any socialist thinking about supporting Keir Starmer should think again and instead support a candidate that welcomes and supports socialist policies and encourages the active involvement of socialist members!"

RAYNER GONE

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/feb/24/angela-rayner-corbyn-did-not-command-respect-from-labour

QuoteShe added: "Obviously the people who've been in the party a long time like Jeremy can support and mentor those coming forward but I do think we have to show that we're different and that we're bringing new talent in and we have to show that we do want to do that and change as a party, that people have confidence that we can speak to the whole of the country and that's the best way of taking us forward."

What the fuck does any of that mean? Still, her mum thinks she could be PM so that's fine.

Has anyone decided on who to vote for in the NEC election?

There's been that scrap between Lansman and Sqwawkbox: https://twitter.com/jonlansman/status/1230123726156574725

Do Sqwawkbox have a point and should I be voting for Bird? Aaron Bastani is still sticking with the Momentum slate, fwiw, but then Momentum backed Rayner as deputy leader, which has turned out to be a bit of a misfire.

The decision to back Rayner was a vote and I understand it was a very close call. Seeing what has unfolded subsequently, I'm sure many now regret their choice.

In case it wasn't clear, Bastani is sticking with the Momentum slate for the NEC election, with the reasoning that the two candidates are decent lefties.

Kids on bus again this morning "Ohhhh Boris Johnson...Ohhhh Boris Johnson"...I turned on them "why you still doing that shite?"

"He's geet funny, man...and I'll bite ya nose off"

I was just commenting on the mention of Momentum backing Rayner; it was a close call.

Are the results of that vote up anywhere? Be interesting to see how close.
